Did you buy a rare and marvellous item not available somewhere closer and more accessible?
Just wondering…
I have never placed an order with Slane, but was tempted when they had a blowout on Cervelo frames about two years back.
Something about the site just bothered me. I couldn’t put a finger on it, but I decided to pass. I have ordered plenty from Wiggle and Probikekit though.
Good luck. I will be watching this thread. It isn’t whether or not a retailer messes up on occasion, it is how they fix their mess that matters.
Apparently you didn’t read the Forum FAQ’s. The subject of your first post must be about farming.
I bought a couple of items ~$750. Neither in stock at the time of placing an order but they got them to me after a couple of weeks. Happy with price and did not mind the wait and have to say the boxes were well packed, better than any other online retailer I used.

Yeah, I did! An Ultegra 165mm crank and bottom bracket. Not only is a 165mm hard to find, but the cheapest ones I did find (all mfr’s) were well over $300. I lost a couple of Ebay bids so I thought I was lucky when I found Slane.

Oh. Okay. Has anyone tried that upside down tomato grower thing?
I placed an order with them about a month ago and received my products without a problem. Actually, I think it was about four days from the time I placed the order until the box was at my door. Overall I was pleased with the experience…it would be a shame if they went under especially if you have an outstanding order.
WHAT CAN’T I POST HERE? Your post should not be off-topic. We are especially cranky about trial-by-internet. **Do not register to post on this forum only to have your first post be a complaint against a company doing business in the sport of triathlon. **After you’ve been here awhile, if you do want to lodge a complaint, it should include documentation, it should be measured, it should not be personal, and you should demonstrate discretion. You should also not lodge a complaint against a named entity unless you yourself are willing to be identifiable, that is, no anonymous rants.

The reason for the OP was, 1) to get information about a company I’ve been having a hard time with, in hopes someone here could give a little insight on their customer service history and possibly make me feel more comfortable having spent $250 with them; 2) inform the readers about my (thus far) negative experience with a "company doing business in the sport of triathlon".
I understand that the readers of my original post should look at it with skepticism, as it is my first post on this board. I also understand that ST wouldn’t want a drive-by torching of a “named” company.
Having said that, would it not benefit the forum reader to read about a bad experience a triathlete had with “a company doing business in the sport of triathlon”? Would your response to my OP be different had I written a glowing review of the company? Yeah, it probably would have.
Do what you will with the OP. I came here to get some help and to offer a warning to other triathletes about “a company doing business in the sport of triathlon”, and apparently I’ve upset the balance of the universe in doing so.
Hey guys -
I’ll comment briefly as I live in Belfast, Northern Ireland, so I guess Slane Cycles is one of my local bike shops.
Over the years I’ve bought quite a bit from them - a bike, clothing, shoes, components and a few other bits and pieces and I’ve always had a good experience with them. They do have those hard to find things when you want an odd crank length etc that are hard to get anywhere else eg Chain Reaction (another local shop - I guess we’re spoilt in Northern Ireland!).
I’ve never mail ordered as they are about 5 miles from my house but when I’m in the showroom they always have a ton of gear packaged up and ready for shipping.
If you’re having problems with an order drop them an email - that’s the best way to get them…
Finally, for the price they are usually very hard to beat - especially on Cervelo and Scott.
Just my comments on the shop, as a customer.
Alex
Thanks, Alex. It makes me more comfortable knowing they’re still in business.
texag: we’re happy to have you as a member of the forum. but rules is rules, and, after 11 years of hosting this forum they’ve proved the test of time.
futhermore, and to answer your question, yes, had it been a glowing review we still would have said what we always say: review of bike shops - good or bad - are attached to that shop’s listing on our bike shop database.
