Skratch Hyper Hydration Use

Let me start this off with this: I am a heavy sweater and have often finished workouts coated in salt.

I have Skratch Hyper Hydration and the directions are to take 30-10 minutes before an event where you will face extreme heat and difficult conditions.

I just read their extremely long blog post (http://blog.skratchlabs.com/blog/hyper-hydration) about the product and think it will help me this weekend.

Racing a 70.3 this Saturday and it’s supposed to be 95°.

My fear is that if I drink it before the swim, I won’t be sweating enough for the first 30 minutes to properly use the sodium influx.

Would it be better to start drinking immediately when I get on the bike? Or just during the bike leg? My main concern is the run because that’s when the heat will be highest during the race.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

I have used the same product and just drink it the morning before the event. I’m not convinced the timing is that critical; I use OSMO pre-load now, and it says you can drink it the night before.

I wouldn’t try it if you haven’t used it during training. The first (and only) time I used it, I had terrible gastric distress.

This was the kind of thing I was looking for.

I’ll just up my sodium intake in 48 hours up to the race.

I have used this before and during races. If you are a heavy sweater you can use half or a quarter pack mixed in a bottle. Please try it out first, not a thing to try on race day. Have a bottle the night before too, pre load the salts!
