Skins vs Zoot compression tights

anyone use both? which is better?

ive never used zoot… but i am a SKINS guy… the material, the way its sown. is amamzing. i have all the recovery stuff, active stuff, calf compressions arm compression tri suite… its higher in price… but so well worth it and you will notice the diff

I’ve got nothing against ZOOT, but it’s my understanding that the weaving machines used by SKINS on their compression gear are unlike anything that most (or all) of the other compression manufacturers have. It allows them to manufacture a superior product.

Never tried Zoot but both Skins and 2xU and both are quality.

I can’t say that either are better then Zoot but I don’t think you will be dissappointed with Skins.

Personally I may like the 2xU better but I haven’t worn them long enough to say for sure.

I have the 2xu and the skins A400. I like the finish of the skins better than the 2xu. Not sure about z00t but hope a less expensive alternative is around the corner soon. Stuff is expensive.

Zoot user here; had one piece of 2xU as well, but not the tights/shorts.

I have the Zoot socks, shorts, knickers, and tights, and like them. The tights are a bit difficult to wear due to my size (6’3", 160) - they’re really, really tight around the heel area, to the point of cutting into my heels. I suspect if I were a bit shorter it wouldn’t be an issue (I wear the size 2 tights/knickers/shorts, and the size 4 socks).

The Zoot stuff seems to be well made - I wear it pretty regularly and it’s holding-up without any problems. I really like the knickers; they’re my primary go-to piece.

Compared to the 2xU piece I had (socks), I will say the 2xU felt a little more “luxurious” but from a performance standpoint, neither seemed to jump ahead of the other. I don’t worship compression gear/ideas, but I figure it can’t hurt… I managed to score a bunch of the Zoot stuff on sale at about 50% off, so that’s why I bought as much as I did.

I’d say 2xU and Zoot are fairly similar; I’d go with fit and price, and then enjoy the purchase without any second thoughts.

Haven’t used Skins, but I have Zoot knickers and 2XU calf sleeves. I have to say the quality of the Zoot compression is waaaay better than the 2XU IMHO. My knickers are my primary winter running bottoms, so they get washed regularly and have held up very well.

Unfortunately they’re all stupid expensive.

I’ve worn a lot of the Zoot stuff and like most of it. The socks and shorts are great. Wear the shorts on almost every run for some hamstring support and sleep in the socks a few times a month.

Like you said, the tights aren’t great. I simply couldn’t get my foot into the ankle area. Had to make a small 2" cut and sew some elastic in. It made it much better and you still get the calf and quad compression. But, they did a great job of falling down my ass. All the drivers by me likely got a bit of extra “flare” that day. I’m 5’10 and 140 and wore a size 1. If I was either 4 or 5 inches shorter or 40 pounds heavier (and wore a size 3 or 4), I’m guessing the height and ankle area would be better.

OP- haven’t tried Skins so I can’t tell you anything about them.

zoot - slays anyone elses compression. i have stocked/sold both but bought zoot for myself fwiw

I have zoot recovery tights … be careful with sizing. Unless you are Mr Average then it may cause issues. I have long legs and despite all the other measurements being correct they are way too short, I had to cut the ends off! Not what you want from a $200 item (I paid a lot, lot less … hence the cutting!)

I guess that goes for all tights, not just Zoot. Another bugbear is the fact that you need to be careful pulling them on, they can tear if pulled too hard.

I really like the Skins products and have been using them for 6 or 7 years. The new A400 is a huge improvement as the fit is much better. Also they are good quality, I wore some full leg tights for an orietiering/off road running race, I had to crawl on hands and knees for 30mins in very very dense bush over rocks etc… and no damage to the skins.

I like 2xu as well, just find the fabric a little too thin

N=1 here but…

It takes me 5ish or more minutes to get my zoot tights on…the few times I’ve put on skins “compression” they went on easily (and were correctly sized)

I really wouldn’t call the latter compression… N=1

I’ve used CEP, Skins, SLS3, Compressport. They are all worth recommending but the best is Compressport.

i dont think skins are medical grade compression - looked fo but did not see the level of compresion - ZOOT states it clearly; and as far as I remember until not so long ago CEP used to manufacture compression for zoot
