Six months of 2025 done - July goals/check in thread

happy to report, the Achilles did not snap
30 years since I first raced the Boulder Peak tri, in 1995.
A good swim and a fair bike ride, enjoyed those and took a sentimental farewell look at all the bits of the course I won’t be doing again.
Run was awful unfortunately, 1:12 for 10k, a big new personal record, slowest ever. Ha. HR was pegged near max for most of that, avg 160, just could not move. Achilles was aching but didn’t get worse, good enough, now for rehab.

well I went mad and signed up for USAT Nationals in a couple of weeks, on the same basis as Boulder Peak - one last time, just for the nostalgia of it…
going water running all this week, insanely boring but it is the only option with a nagging achilles… usually put on a swim cap, DAP music player under there and earphones, play some death metal

slipped yesterday and used Bad Coping Mechanism :frowning: a med really lowered inhibition

v unhappy w self but will get back on track
so 468 days in a row + 1 slip, 20/21 july

ugh sorry…
meds - we call the effects we want the medicine, we call the effects we don’t want ‘side effects’, sometimes the meds are not entirely helpful…

In the long run, there may be some serenity from learning that you can slip and get right back on track.

this - one off day does not devalue 400+ days of positive progress
