I never post in to these threads but I always like reading them.

First six months of the year I did 99 CrossFit classes, lost 18 pounds and packed on a bunch of muscle. I turn 58 tomorrow and other than waking up sore most mornings I am feeling very good.

Keep up the good work TC.

+200 hours of work

Competed in a seniors’ track and field competition (2nd shot put, 2nd discus, 1st javelin, 3rd softball throw). Next time I’ll add the sprints too. Had fun.

Competed in a seniors’ powerlifting competition - set a PR in the deadlift. Had fun.

Not much else.

July goals: Get back on the bike. Continue in the gym. Don’t work 200 hours. Finish a book or two.

Middle of an IM build, and trying to juggle it with work: I’m tired

Looking forward to vacation in September.

tore my achilles on a perfectly ordinary run, main race of the year in a week…
oh well push swim and bike then walk it in… new goal !
ha

Dr T, 450 days sounds like a pretty good streak…
my favorite maladaptive coping is a double whisky, 40 days is the best I’ve done…

“When exactly did the miracle happen?” “He claims, when they dipped him in the well. As he tells it, he experienced an initial shock of intense cold followed immediately by a tingling warmth which suffused his whole body, and a feeling of great happiness and peace."
That’s exactly what I get after my third whisky.

@spudone yay for IM build, even if tired
@doug_in_co I’m so sorry. what’s the treatment plan? don’t get more hurt racing on it even if racing is swim bike walk! DNF is ok!

Been out of the tri game for a while - kids and career change will do that to you. So will turning 50 this year.

Buddy at work convinced me to race a local Sprint this fall, so I’m back in it. Ballooned up to 250 from 210 back in '10, so got my work in front of me. Down 5-7 in the past month, ramping up all the activities.

Lots more biking, swim form is still there, running is an afterthought for the past 15 years but picking up. Recent 5k on no training for 15 years yielded sub-40 (LOL) which was my goal.

Kids are finally where I can dip out for a few hours and get things done. Just have to keep myself honest from here on out. Maybe thinking about a 70.3 next year or in '27.

ta

usual plan - rest, ice several times a day, big slugs of ibuprofen on a regular basis, stay off it as far as possible, won’t run again until the race.
also did KT tape for the first time ever, it seemed to help ? placebo effect is real

backpacked in Rocky Mt NP, had a backcountry camp reservation which is hard to get. Probably wasn’t sensible, but survived. Oddly my R leg is stiff and sore, L leg and achilles much less so - guess I was really favoring the L leg…

had planned this as the last time I race Boulder Peak tri, just don’t have the strength to get up that 16% Old Stage hill anymore… so I’d like to finish. but baling out is always an option… ha

August is now a double whammy. My 40th high school reunion is next month.
Yesterday we were invited to do a graduation run with cadets since we are building their new training facility.
We have to run 6 miles in an hour as that is all of the road closure allowed.
I’ve not done a real run since 2010. If youre gonna be stupid, you gotta be tough.
Looking to drop 25 pounds and be able to hold 10 minute miles from my current off the couch state by August 6.

@Bumble_Bee I’m in the same boat, coming back after a LONG time off.

Forced in an MTB ride yesterday, felt great until the exhaustion of the previous 3 12-hour shifts hit hard and fast. Race is in 2 months, gotta get back on the pain train…
