Is there any benefit in wearing a singlet over a two piece?
Best Advantage to me is not feeling the shorts cut into my waist. With a tri suit i feel more comfortable in Aero than with shorts and top. Also if your top rides up you get the lower back sun burn which sucks too. Down side to the tri suit is when you need to use the restroom. But for me i “take care of business” before the race and if i need to pee on the bike i just go. Im not going to spend a couple hundred dollars on an aero helmet to save 40 seconds /40k and waist 4 min in a port a potty.
End of the day get them both and use them both. Maybe you will prefer one over the other for different distances.
A 1-piece hides my muffin top but if I anticipate needing to stop for a natural break two piece is my choice.
A singlet can be more aero.

Suit in sprint and oly… especially if a non-wetsuit legal race.
Two piece in 70.3 and IM, with a swim skin or wetsuit. It’s a long day and you will be visiting port-a-potties.
No stamp tramp sun burn. Much better (IMO) when it is declared a non wetsuit swim.

Before a HIM, I pee in the water right before exiting the swim. Don’t have to go again until after the race…I don’t overdo it on nutrition and hydration during the race.
IM, different story.
Agree with all of the comments about the benefits of a two-piece for bathroom breaks. One other thing to consider: a one-piece could be a lot harder to size correctly (torso length vs waist size, etc.). If you get a one-piece that is a little short in the torso, it will make your junk (or lack thereof) readily apparent to EVERYONE who sees you on the run… In my experience, it was quite embarrassing.
Photo evidence?

Tri suit for me. No problem going pee pee. I just pull it out from the leg opening. If you are worried about somebody seeing your ding dong, use a bib belt and have the bib cover your winky.
I wore a one piece for the first time in my 70.3 last weekend. I’ll never go back to a two piece for any distance. Taking it off to pee wasn’t a big deal
Using a one piece for everything up to a HIM. Undecided if I’ll be using one for IM distance in anticipation of pee breaks on the run.
This word you keep using. I don’t not think it means what you think it means.
I find a one-piece to be way more comfortable, and it isn’t that big of an issue to pee. In shorter distances you don’t have to, and in longer ones the extra 5 seconds to deal with a one-piece over a two-piece don’t matter as much.

A man should never wear just a singlet. Now if a woman wants to wear just her singlet…

Since a singlet refers only to the top piece of a kit, you probably don’t wanna do that.
If you mean a one-piece kit/suit, that’s different
I am all torso, so a one-piece is out. I feel like I am being strangled by a light midget when I wear one. But, if I could wear one, I would. FEELS like less drag in the water, and probably on the bike. Possible restroom issues, though…

Erm… Just a singlet? You know a singlet could mean:

But it most often one of these:
If you want to perform in just that, I would suggest you wear something on your legs as well.
That being said I would think you ask whether to race in Tri Suit or Tri shorts + top.
I have both.
I do like the comfort of the suit, but I just dont feel pro enough to wear it. So I usually wear the two piece like the amateur I am. I like that I can just stop and pee when I have to.
I like the two piece best but use a tri suit if I am swimming without a wetsuit. I think the two piece is slower in the water but my testing is pretty crude.
Did you really have to post that?
