Singapore T100 Build Up/Race Day Thread

INFINITY DOLLARS!

Geens has said he DNF with stomach cramps on the run.

Geens ^^

From Duffy: “A very tough day for me in Singapore. Unfortunately I had to pull out on the bike after having some severe glute / hip issues. Never fun to pull out of a race. :broken_heart: A few things to figure out to get my body ready to race again.”

And from Byram (less clear): “A combination of a few things meant I wasn’t 100% going into this race. I tired to stay optimistic but my body wasn’t having any of it  Against this quality of field and in these conditions, you can’t turn up and expect to perform if you’re not fighting fit!”

I’ve never heard of Megan Mcdonald, but she dies a pretty good YT channel…

Yeah, her channel popped up on my YT feed a few months a ago and she is great. Huge Prop’s to her for her race in Singapore considering she was a very late Wildcard invite and had no chance to get heat prepped.
It seems like she is very popular among the female pro ranks in the UK . definately one of my favorite fun Tri Youtubers now.

Interesting. McDonald was a late entry onto the World Tri maintained Waiting List (joining list on 6th March) and was top of that list after Hukka promoted. I wonder if the jungle drums informed that move.
The IRONMAN ‘Fighting Chance’ video of Knibb when she revealed that she would be racing IM Texas dropped on 18th March. From then it was a good bet that Knibb would not race Singapore so McDonald could reckon a good % chance of a wildcard and was the catalyst for McDonald to start some heat prep training, as advised by her coach.
From her Week 12 video (to which you refer @sfjab ), she’d started heat prep on 21st March (to the extent one can in Midlands England).

Didn’t everyone get sick following Singapore last year?

Might even be before the IM video. Patrick Lemieux knew Taylor Knibb won’t race. Mark Matthews coaches Megan MacDonald right?

Yes he does.

Good report on Wilde’s strategy for the race, and its execution.
(With HRs and powers)

Would be cool to know is NP for the entire ride.
W/CDA to contend on the bike is getting up there

Since Laidlow and Ditlev are, I reckon, the current ‘uber bikers’ we’ll have to wait till Marbella (and even then maybe not) to see Wilde going up against them.
Wilde not racing T100 San Francisco nor T100 Vancouver which I guess will work to keep the Standings fluctuate.
I’m assuming MvR may miss one of those too, as he needs to race a 70.3 if he’s to get a slot for Marbella to keep that option open.

So Ditlev published 370w NP last year at Miami. Let’s pretend his CDA is .21 so 370/.21 = 1761
Let’s pretend Hayden is a .19 CDA. So to get the same W/CDA as Ditlev ,1761 * .19 = 334w.
Think he normalized 334 ?

Now there is a whole debate of wether Magnus is a .21 and Hayden is a .19.

Lionel said he did 353 at Oceanside. His videos are putting him at .208ish, 353/.208 = 1697.

So it seems around 1700 is where the fast guys play

Has Wilde got a 70.3 WC slot? Don’t think he raced after NZ

He is also racing WTCS. Getting a WC slot and racing again in Nov might be spreading him too thin. Prefer him to be all in with T100, he has the personality to promote the series and bring buzz to it as well

She was notified of a possibility of racing 3 weeks ago. Confirmation of a start was much later but she had sensibly started heat prep in case she did get the start.

Edit: Now see Frejus moved from late June to late August. Makes the period between Singapore and London massive (if Wilde still misses SF and Vancouver). Will delete some of the post below and return later!
Wilde has no slot (yet) for Marbella.
I suggest that the attraction of a win in the 70.3 World Champs is significant, after his ‘fire and miss’ last year at home.
He has the capacity to achieve:
Obj A: T100 and
Obj B: WTCS Champs (after a #3 last year) without prejudicing either.

So could he achieve Obj C: a win in the 70.3 World Champs, and what’s the cost/risk?
To be resumed!

As for "promote the series and bring buzz to it " Wilde is great but clearly missing the next two races means a lack of ‘promotion’ for 12 weeks. Like Knibb, the athlete (if top rank) is queen/king and they will set their priorities with the needs of the series/tour/other being well down on athlete well being and season endurance, and winning the big races/prizes.
