I live and ride in a relatively dry climate, Colorado (though last spring it was rather rainy), so I really don’t want the hassle of full fenders. The most simple solution is the Ass-saver fender - minimalist in the rear; nothing for the front. But SKS has the S-Blades, which probably work a little better than the Ass-saver. Are the S-Blades easy to install and remove? For those who’ve used them, do the S-Blades work better than the Ass-saver? Are there other fenders I should consider buying for when it rains here in Colorado?

I have never used the S-Blades but I do have the Ass-saver. The Ass-saver, as the name states, just keeps your ass from getting wet or muddy. I use it on my cross bike which I don’t worry about the bike getting dirty and it works great for semi-wet days. It can tuck under your saddle so if there is a chance of rain you will have it. But if you are riding in the rain, more coverage wouldn’t be a bad thing.
I used the newer mountain bike version of the Ass-saver and have found it really doesn’t like to stay in place on its own. However I can quickly secure it using my saddle bag and it provides solid protection with almost no hassle. I previously used a product similar to the S-blades and the issue I had was that the tilt adjustment bolt frequently loosened itself during a ride. SKS may well have solved this problem but it is something ti keep in mind if you are switching the fender between bikes and re-adjusting the tilt.
I’ve had all kinds of fenders and the only one I use regularly is the asssaver.
I have the race blades and love them. Easy to take off and put on once you adjust them to your bike. I have 25 mm tires on my roadie and I don’t have an issue with rub unless the fenders aren’t centered. Even then I can adjust them while riding, carefully though! I havent tried the ass savers thiugh but the race blades provide good coverage on front and rear.
I have both - use the SKS when it’s raining and I know I will get wet but want to keep from getting soaked, use the ass-saver when it was raining or when it looks like it could rain and want to keep my crack dry :).
SKS super easy to mount and adjust - 1min and they are both on the bike and ready to go.
Thanks for the replies. The Ass-saver sounds like a no-brainer. As for the S-Blades, do they keep your rear-end and back-side significantly dryer than the Ass-saver?
Front and rear fenders would be nice, and I’ve heard the SKS fenders, once installed, are easy to remove and re-install. However, unless the Front Range in Colorado becomes inundated with rain this spring they are probably overkill.

Significantly dryer…no, but it is more comfortable riding with them, especially the front fender when it is raining (seems to keep my feet dryer).

Aren’t the S-Blades for the rear only?
Is there any equivalent S-Blade for the front wheel?
