Sidi T1 Sizing

I have an opportunity to get a pair of Sidi T-1 shoes for real cheap, but I won’t be able to try them on until I get them (through a guy I know who is out of the country, so his wife is going to send them). How do they compare size wise to other brands? Do they size up or down? Thanks!

My experience is:

comparing to my regular Sidi cycling shoes they seem like they run a little larger.

you might need to buy half size smaller.

They run SMALL. If you wear a 41 in regualr shoes, you most likely wear a 41.5 in a T-1 and a 42 in other Sidi models. At least I do. And they are not particularly wide either.

Great, now they either need to be a half size smaller or a half size bigger?!?!?!

Another question for all: How much room do you leave in the toe of your tri shoes?

If you buy t-1’s in your exact size you will need a shoe horn to get into them is all I was trying to say. I bought them 1/2 size bigger and they fit snug. My Genius road shoes (also Sidi) are a 42 because I ride long distances, my feet swell a lot, and as a result my feet go numb due to constriction in the shoe. I prefer to have the ability to let the straps out a little after hour #4 when my feet go numb and the extra wiggle room in the toe box offered by the 1/2 size bigger shoe. Racing is another story, I’ve just accepted the fact that i won’t be feeling my feet until mile 4 on the run.

Cheers, Karma

no room at all in the toe…Tom D. has a really good article on cycling shoe fit on his Bikesport webpage (complete with pictures even)

and the SIDI’s are about 1/2 size smaller than at least some other brands so you would need to ADD 1/2 size to whatever you are wearing. Biggest difference is in their width. I have an A and a AA foot and LOVE my SIDI’s. My T-1’s are in fact 1/2 size smaller than my Genius’s and Dominator’s (which I have in a narrow).

Thanks for the tip on the article. Interestingly he says this: “I wear a size 41 in a Sidi T-1 and Shimano TR-01 and have on a size 10 pair of expertly fitted Lowa hiking boots right now. When I checked the “conversion charts” they say I should have a size 42.5.”

Which means they run big! So I am completely confused…that being said I told her to send them and I’ll give them a try. Worse comes to worse I’ll put them up on ebay.

You wouldn’t but running shoes without trying them on would you? Unless you went to a store that carried them and tried them on to see first? I suggest you do the same with the T-1’s. Go to a Tri/bike shop and just try on some t-1’s and see what size feels good to you. Then you will have a high degree of confidence when you decide if the pair your friend has will work for you.

Good Luck - Karma

They are much narrower than shimano TR02’s
.

I know of nowhere here in Louisville I can try them on. I am only paying the cost of shipping, so I’ll get them and give them a try, if they don’t work I’ll sell em. No biggie.

I wear a 10.5 Ascis runner and a 44 Sidi. Both fit perfectly.

Thanks but I have never seen T-1’s at either of those shops and I have looked for three years.

I wear the same size in every SIDI shoe although I don’t wear socks with my T1s cuz they would be too tight, but I don’t want to wear socks with them.

hope this helps

Sidi has a shoe called the Maxxus.(sp?) It looks like a Genius but it’s sized a little a wider then their regular shoe. I have toe box issues, and this slightly wider version has been a big help. Unfortunately they don’t have a wider version of the T1. Since I genaerally don’t do anything longer then Olympic I can get away with the regular fit of the T1. I think if I were to do an iron distance race I’d need something a little wider. The Maxxus works great at longer distances. I did El Tour de Tucson (109 miles) a few weeks ago, and found the extra width helps.

i’ll profess expert status on the matter of Sidi shoes.

they don’t run small perse’ rather, they are the original Italian manufacture. narrow-like with a tapered toe box. The toe is small and pointy, going back to bikers using toe clip days.

If you need toe room, you might like Speicalized better. if you are small-footed then you may like Sidi, but remember, as good as they are (and I thing they are very good) they run narrow.

Got them today, they are a size 40, my other cycling shoes are size 41 and have some space in the front. These fit snug, but not too tight. I think they are going to work perfectly!

If the 40’s end up being too tight I have a very lightly used pair of 41’s currently posted on Ebay.
