Showerless clean up after workout?

Going on a run this afternoon, and I’ll need to clean up afterwards. However, I won’t have access to a shower. I will have water, but no shower. Any suggestions? Baby wipes, Wet Ones, anything like that?

I bring along a wash cloth and deoderant. Wet the cloth and wipe down your body, slap on some pit stick, restyle the hair (if you have enough) and you’re good to go. No one is the wiser.

I got this advice a couple of years ago, and it works pretty good. I carry a pack of wet-wipes(whatever brand you like, but not ones that smell like baby powder) with me and use those to clean up if there is no water source around. It won’t make you pretty, but it will take care of the smell. Since you’ll have access to water, use a washcloth to give yourself a sponge-bath.

Lick yourself clean, like a cat does. Just don’t be surprised if you hack up a fur ball later.

I concur with several of the other suggestions about using baby wipes/wet wipes. Since we had our first kids (twins) a few years ago we’ve had baby wipes in the house and I can’t believe how usefull they are! Beyond providing a makeshift substitute for a shower when a shower is not available after a workout, they also work great for wiping dust and dirt off of a bike after roof-top transport to a race or ride!

Laughing my ass off!!

if you don’t get too sweaty and you work in the fitness center at the YMCA you don’t have to worry about it too much cause you’ll just blend right in!!! just change your shorts and you’re good to go

Ewwww.

Although I’m no one to talk – I’ve gone from the pool to bed many times. I don’t even notice the pee-tinged chlorine smell anymore.

I agree. I have done this a number of times when a shower was not available and I needed to be presentable afterwards. The only thing that I would add is to start clean ie. have a good shower before the run or earlier in the day.

I’ve become a master of showering in sinks in public places. If you can do your face, hair and armpits with soap (even hand soap from bathroom if thats all you’ve got) and just a light wipe down everywere else you should be good to go. I wouldn’t want to be putting on a suit afterwards, but jeans and a sweatshirt no problem.

I have gotten some interesting looks washing my hair in the bathroom of restaurants/bars while my friends drink beers but that’s how it goes when trying to get workouts in and not get left out of weekend plans.

BTW, the acceptable technical terms for these procedures are: 1. Bum’s bath 2. Whore’s bath 3. PTA (for women only - I’ll let you do the math).

I don’t know how people do this…I would never try it. kittycat

One of the local gyms near my office allows cycling commuters to use the showers if the show a key for a bike lock or something. Talk with the club manager if you have one close by.

Campmor.com has no-rinse liquid soap and shampoo. The stuff’s amazing. For the soap, you just dilute it in some water and rub it on with a wet washcloth. Then towel dry. For the shampoo, you just rub it in your hair and then towel dry. Gets rid of the stink, makes you feel clean, and makes even my unruly hair brushable.

They claim that NASA sends it on the space shuttle.

It’s about 5 bucks a bottle.
