Another forum that I frequent uses Invision Power Board. This forum software includes the ability to view all new posts based on a few different criteria (new since last login, never viewed, can be restricted to a specific subforum or the entire board). Is there such a feature on ST (I can’t find one)?
If not…consider this a feature request. Its incredibly handy for catching up, and making sure you don’t miss something you are interested in just because it got pushed down between logins.

Would you want this in the search function?
We don’t have something like this currently. Typically, you’d just use the “watch thread” feature to track updates to a given thread…
Hmm… No, not part of search. You can see this in action over at mazdaracers.com. Upper right is a “view new content” button. That opens a list of posts across all forums that I haven’t read. I can tailor that by:
Content I haven’t read
New in last 24hrs
… Week
… 2 weeks
… Etc
I can also limit those to:
Threads I’ve participated in
Threads I started
Threads I follow
I almost always have this configured as “content I have not read” . And, I have bookmarked that page as my goto.
Watched threads only works fine for threads I’ve seen. The beauty of the above is that I can see every (and only) threads that have new content in them (watched or not). So, if I go on vacation or don’t login for some reason for several days, I don’t have to search through pages of threads to try and find what I missed.
My typical usage pattern is:
1 goto view new content page
2. Read thread (or mark read if not interested)
3. Return to New content page and refresh
4. Repeat until list is empty
5. Come back later.
