Well it’s 40* in Minnesota, and I’m going to go get my Yaqui covered in salt.
Makes me think about a winter bike. I’d like to see yours and hear its story.

My current “winter” bike:
.
25-pound steel touring bike with 32 mm knobbies: Road triple with MTB (Deore) gearing. $650 new … Pretty much go anywhere, do anything beater. Its my Feb-March & November bike. Its about 2 mph slower than my road bike, so its doesn’t feel like a total pig. I was out on it for 2 hours on Saturday (45 degrees, lots of gravel, but mostly dry roads) … Now we have 2 inches of snow over ice and 35 degrees, so I am indoors.
Its the 2004 version of this:
i can feel you
nothern ny has lots of salt and sand on the road
we have had cold weather since the 10th of jan
with lots of snow
last night it was -33f
my winter bike is a old fixed conversion with fenders
I have less then $100. in the bike
i like the bike well enough to have done a few centuries on it
leather seat ,stronglight crank , nice wheelman wheels crapy paint and brakes
dirt
thursday the 22 we will only have 3 more weeks of winter
i think it is the same in Mn to
WTFK?? You guys must have money to save the World from starvation… Guys with 8 or 9 bikes, like I have heard. Wait!! Carb cant hang up with low degrees.
the story with my ‘winter bike’ - – - is that it’s on the trainer in my bedroom.

I pray that you have some good weather soon.

Maine was almost 30* both days this weekend. Spring is around the corner… we just have to reach the corner.

I’m afraid I can’t afford NOT to have a winter bike. Ruining a $3000+ bike with salt would get expensive quick…
Pics or it doesn’t exist.
lemond cross bike…road tires, dedicated fenders…you gotta love the wet winters up here in Portland…although the bike has stayed pretty dry this winter due to a run focus…I wish she was as clean as she was in that pic though!
posted before…
built for under $600 (less the srm) and have since changed the stem to a 130, installed a chain any my sks raceblades + my trailer skewer and finished the wire harness:
“built for under $600”
I don’t believe you.
Oh yeah, Cyclesmith called. Said they’re missing a bunch of parts. Know anything about it?
Dude, you guys are SO un-American

.
If it has an SRM, it’s not the kind of winter bike I’m thinking of
I’m thinking of “garage sale 10 speed” type winter bikes.
The guys with the Lemond w/ CK headset, ritchey WCS, Ultegra 10 and the Merlin w/ SRM for WINTER BIKES need to adopt me. Seriously. Good wrenching skills free with financial support!
I ride the fixed gear behind the Fuji quite a bit as well during the winter. Easier to clean and better traction control.

really? got the frame here sold the extras he included in the sale (AC seatpost, chorus front der, look fork) so paid under $100 for the frame.
Swapped some aerobars for the fork, got a deal on some used campy shiz and sold what i didn’t need from that and viola! cheap, indestructable, non-rusting, don’t care what is on the road winter bike built.

Are you kidding?!
Man… what does your summer bike look like.
Minus the wheels… i have old training wheels on it now with road tires… and i’ve swapped the DA crank for a SRM Pro…
