Shorts without chamois

Hello all,

I ve been a “roadie” for about 10 years and I ve always wore short with the big ole chamois. The other day I went out on the bike with a cheap pair of walmart shorts without a chamois, under my tights. I couldn’t believe how comfortable this was.

Are there any decent shorts out there without or with a very chamois. If so let me know what you like.

Thanks!

Gall

Almost all tri shorts have a pretty minimal chamois. But, if you’re looking for really minimal… I’d give Ironman Activewear a look. Their chaois is basically a very thin fuzz - almost no padding.

Please help me with the pronounciation of that word - chamois???

If you find a pair of trishorts with just a little piece of fleece over the seams, they’re the best I think, really comfy. I’d choose them over the real cycling"chamois".

Please help me with the pronounciation of that word - chamois???

Are you serious? Sham-EE

I’m very serious, I live in sweden. I’ve seen the word and knows what it means but I´ve never heard someone say it. Shamee? weird!

sham-ee or sham-wah.

or like i said it before i heard it pronounced: shay-muss or kay-muss

If you want to hear the pronouciation go to the link below:

sham-wah was my guess, it looks french. sham-ee doesn’t make sence, but then again not many english words does.

it is French. mostly we call it “the pad”.

The chamois (sham wah) is a kind of animal, a bit goaty, that lives in some of Europe’s mountains (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chamois). The used to make leather out of the skin of this beast which was very flexible , soft and absorbent, for use in polishing things, including windows, and for protecting the crotches of cyclists. Now your crotch is as likely or more to be protected by a synthetic material (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chamois_leather) - and cyclists in the English-speaking world tend to say shammy rather than shamwah! j

Not only cyclists, my websters 9th collegiate gives “shammy” as the first pronunciation.

I second on Ironman Active wear shorts for cycling, but I found them not so good for running.
Thanks for bringing up the pronounciation issue, I would have made a fool out of myself reading this post in front of others, it is wierd word indeed!
