Hi,
I´m looking for a short or non sleeve wetsuit, with short legs. I just moved to a place with no pools, but we have a water reservoir at work. It´s 165x65x190mts.
In the summer its alright to swim without a wetsuit, but in winter it´s starting to get a bit chilly.
I have a sleeveless helix I use to race, but I´d like something I can train in, and get in and out of quite quick. I´ll be swimming at lunch time so time spent putting on the wetsuit is important.
I was looking in trisports and the only one I could find was the desoto espresso. It looks great, and I´d love one, but I don´t think I need something that sophisticated, I just need something not very expensive I can train in.
Any advice?
two thoughts…a used QR short john ( ebay , swim outlet may have one ) or a desoto speed tube with a T1 vest. Found mine on swim outlet at a great price a couple years ago, this combo offers great versatility.
Just call them directly and speak with sales and ask them what kind of deal they can do on a specific suit. I think you will be surprised at how much this company will be willing to work with you. This has been my experience in the past. I have no affiliation with the company or inside connection.
They don’t list their shorty wetsuit in their products for some reason, but I did see it listed in their rental section. I rented on a few years back, and then just bought it (rather than sending it back). This shorty provides almost no speed advantage as far as I can tell. I just like it for training when the water is a little to cold to go without a wetsuit. It’s comfy, and I think it’s a great deal for a training suit.
For what it’s worth, yes Xterra does sell their wetsuits at a huge discount.
But even they will tell you not to cut the legs off.
You run a much greater risk of the wetsuit falling apart if you cut the legs off. The seams will very likely come apart at the bottom.
Plus, if you cut the wetsuit, you just voided the warranty.
Just my honest .02.
If you want a true shorty, just look around. I’m sure you can find something that you won’t have to change at all, that will fit your budget and be what you want.
Go to their website and create an account. The will email you specials. I don’t know if it is because I shop (buy) frequently or not, but I get “Take an extra 20% off”
one day sales emails all the time.
Thinking outside triathlon, there are lots of shorty, sleeveless suits on the market for such things as water skiing that will do the job and give you absolutely no speed advantage at all…
