I three putted from 10 feet after driving the green on a short par four.
Missed at least two two footers.
I choked with a double on 18. My first all day.
Played with two good buddies and a douche we were paired with. He asked me if I made a Short birdie putt (I didn’t) right before I was about to swing my driver on the next hole among other atrocities he committed. F’n douche.
Gotta expect to have to step back and restart the reshot routine when having a single join your group. Call me pessimistic but they likely show up to the course alone for a reason.
Sounds sorta like triathlon. 5 hours on the half today. If I had not got lost on the swim and dropped my water bottle with half of my nutrition I would have been at least 10 minutes faster.
That 77 is super legit if u missed 2 two footers. They had to be longer. That three putt hurt me. I’ve switched to disc golf and it’s weird bc I can’t drive as far or putt as well but everything in between us way better. You also have forehand and backhand which ads an element.

That’s an a few strokes higher than average score for me for nine. I like to drink beer shoot the breeze and gamble while being an epic smack talker. I’m also almost always taken early in best ball, scramble, and score because two to three per hole means I’m usually good for at least an eagle or birdie a couple of times and when I get a hold of a drive it is Dalyesque and I’m fun to play with while quick. That’s a long winded way to say I would have destroyed that douche mentally and made his day suck for being a douche. Golf is about having fun.
Did you have fun? Enjoy the round? Who cares then?

Nice going on the score though braddah.
Been playing for 55 years now. For a lot of reasons many of those years and many a round were as a single looking to hook up at the starters station. I thoroughly enjoy the meet up and the get to know a guy for 18 holes with some respectful and friendly conversation. Not all us singles are bad apples.

Yeah my issue is I take golf like some of the folks in this neck of the woods take triathlon - way too seriously. Having said that I loves me some smack talking and I’m good for a drunk round or two every year. The problem is the other times I play where I treat it like life and death. And more important than that.
Tri stuff I’m much more of hey let’s have some fun out here! (Mostly…)

The problem with looking back at a golf card is that you assume that if you only made those 3 putts you would have scored 74 but what if you didn’t drive the par 4 green and it bounced into the sand, or one of your great iron shots was slightly misfit or a drive didn’t hit the fairway.
You can’t keep all your good shots and breaks and only get do overs on the bad shots, it doesn’t work that way.
Also, the next round is a complete do over and will be the one you remember.

Fucking game kills me…
Maybe I’ll swim bike run instead.
End rant.
Been there!
Years ago, I had my best ever score of 72 thru 17. Final hole was a simple straight 400 yds par 4. I fully expected to get par and finish with my first ever score under 80 (76)…
Pulled my drive left into the bushes. Was “smart” and punched out for 2. 3rd shot was in sand. Sand to sand for 4th. At this point next group was on tee and I felt pressured…Sand to sand for 5th (yes, back to original spot). 6th shot onto green. 2 putted for 80. I was SOOOO pissed.
*For the heck of it, after my drive, I did try a “what if” and hit my 5 wood from the bushes and it landed on the green. I wish I never did that because that finish ate at me for years, and still does today. Near perfect golf that day except the final hole.
Very next day, went out again at another course and somehow pulled off a 78. That record held for me for maybe 5 years until I hit a 75 last summer even though I sucked for the majority of the summer. Kinda weird how golf works like that.
I’ve also driven par 4s and 3 putted for par (2 times), but I’ve also eagled 2 times on a four.
Golf is so frustrating some times. My swing sucks right now, and I’m hoping to get lessons soon once covid chills out. I am struggling with 2 of the major keys of golf. Head down, feet still. I’m trying to generate too much power.
Played my first round of the year yesterday with my nephew. Beautiful day. The Bingo Bango Bongo bet was more the focus than the score. Which made it a lot of fun since the results of that were almost the reverse of the scores.
And it really makes me wish more courses used the GPS system that course does. No scrambling for sprinkler heads or figuring out if that 150 yard bush is 20 or 30 yards away.
Oh yeah, apparently I forgot how to hit straight over the winter. But it was a nice day for a walk in the woods.

Best of luck, hope you get it!
No doubt frustrating. I was complaining to my buddy I hadn’t dropped a birdie putt in my last four rounds and proceeded to drop two of the next three holes. Go figure. I’m good for maybe two sub 80 rounds a year (at least the last five years or so). Mostly 79’s. Those I don’t seem to really choke on. It’s been the two or three times when I’m driving well and my irons are lights out and I’m looking to go real low when the head games start.

I’m kind of a feast or famine golfer. Obviously hadn’t played because of covid and now have played 4 times in 10 days and playing again Wednesday. I might go a couple of weeks without playing and then get 3/4 rounds in a few days.
GPS in carts are great. There are free apps for your phone which will give you yardage. I sometimes find gps can be a little shaky and will check with sprinkler heads.
