Short fuse - - IMFL induced?

I haven’t been able to get any work done for the past week. I’m not sleeping much because IMFL is racing through my head all thoughout the night - - and my 2.5 week old first born doesn’t help.

Now, I’m ripping the heads off of co-workers. My normally short fuse has been cut in half.

Is this typical before an IM? If so, it’s a good thing that I’m out of here in 24 hours because its getting ugly.

Serenity now. Serenity now. Serenity now. Serenity now.

Confused. How does one prepare for an IM in a months time only a couple of weeks after giving birth? And, how could you prepare during the pregnancy?

If I have the facts right, and call me judgemental, but I would say this is obsessive to an unhealthy degree.

though it would make a great story if the facts were otherwise, and probably get me in to Kona, my wife did the actual gestation and delivery thing. My input into the pregnancy was over 10 months ago.

Not typical. you are just plain crazy. I pity your poor child.

RELAX, Kris. You’ll do fine, as long as you get 9-10 hours of unintterupted sleep every night btw. now and IMFL.

sorry ktw. I thought you were female. My mistake. All the best with your newborn

A wise choice ktw. More families should follow your example.

No worries, AJ! You’re by no means the first person to mistake Kris for a woman. And actually, the bitchy-ness isn’t that out of the norm for him.

yeah, but I’ve brought it to a whole different level.

And I’m inflicting additional pain on UPS for f’ing up another delivery. More on that to come.

I am a father to.

I did my last IM one month after my son was born in 1997. That was my last triathlon to. I had planned it that way - tapering down for that race while at home quite a bit after the birth and then calling it quits after that race. It worked out well. I finished second in my age-group at IMC that year and have had no regrets since “retiring” from triathlon.

If you are actly poorly towards others because of a race, then you are a geek and need to chill and get a life.

If you are irritable because of the lack of sleep and other attention-sapping requirements of a newborn, then you have the start of a wonderful life, and just need to get over the sleep depravation, which ain’t easy!

I think it is very understandable given the circumstances. You have an enormous amount on your plate. That isn’t easy.

Sometimes the best thing to do is focus on the things you can control and let the rest go. Even that is a lot in your circumstance.

Regardless, they are all very positive developments. -New kid, going to a great race…

My best wishes to you on both accords, and have a great race!

Are you kiddin’? I go absolutely spazzo  No joke. My wife and everybody else stays away from me during my taper and the few days before the race.
