Short Aero Bars for Olympic or Shorter?

I’m looking to get more “aero” for the last 1.5/2 years of high school before going off to university~

All tri/related events are shorter than olympic distance…I currently have a cheap aluminium roadie with cheap wheels that I use for everything.
I can borrow shallow rim aero wheels (404’s or DA Shimano) from my coach if need be.

Next thing I could probably do are ITU style short aero bars. Any suggestions? Are aero bars worth getting considering that I’ll be racing mainly Sprint and maybe 1 OD per year (depending if someone organises one and if they’ll let my AG register)?
Additionally, everything is draft legal here. I can consistently keep a speed of 32-35kph depending on conditions (non drafting TT).

Thanks and Merry Christmas everyone!

Yeah they will help for sure when doing non drafting races, and if you’re breaking away/bridging a gap in your draft legal race.

where are you racing where everything is draft legal?

Hong Kong…
they used to have 1 or 2 non-draft legal races but now everything is draft legal.

Reconsidering aero bars right now only cause I’m in the top% of my AG but often far enough from the leaders that I can’t catch up without burning so much that I’ll collapse for the run.

edit: someone will probably mention that I should work on my swimming but the leaders are crazy fast…

If you decide to go with an aerobar, this is the best:

Cinelli Spinacci. Only available NOS, you can usually find them on Ebay. I have them on both my road bikes with double bar tape.

what about the Vision TT mini?

The Vision sits above the bar and will make you ride higher.

ahh right I see. Thanks for the info.
What other options are available then other than one you suggested?
I’ll likely be buying from LBS and not from ebay/online stores~

It is quite possible that your LBS has a set of Cinelli Spinaci, or its 3TTT equivalent, the Tiramisu, gathering dust in a box somewhere.

And if they don’t? Wouldn’t hurt to prepare other options.

They also, pretty much, only fit 26.0 bars which are increasingly harder to find…

The Vision minis are absolutely horrible.

What makes you say that? Not arguing, just for my own knowledge, because I was thinking of getting those.

+1
Other than the “The Vision sits above the bar and will make you ride higher.”
.

exactly…

I have had two pair on two different bikes. I didn’t like them on either bike. I couldn’t stay down in the bars for longer than 3 or 4 minutes at the time. They may have been too narrow for me. I bought a pair of Profile Design Legacy bars last year that I really like. The pads are wider and they are a little longer, i.e. they extend slightly past the hoods, which doesn’t make them draft legal. But they are shorter than “regular” clip-ons. I can stay down in the Legacies for an extended period of time.

That’s not really true. I mount them right where the bar gets wider and since the hooks are adjustable in or out as well as up or down, I can get them anywhere I want.

Looks exactly what I’m looking for!
But I can’t seem to find that through their website or Google. Can you get me a URL please?
