Shoes slipping on treadmill

I have a NordicTrack C1750 and due to sweat my shoes start slipping for runs longer than an hour on the treadmill. While an hour is typical the longest i will run on the treadmill I sometimes need to get some longer runs in. Anyone have tips to reduce the slipping? Currently running in Saucony Kinvaras so if I need to find shoes with better wet traction let me know a similar shoes I could try.

Best thing I have found is to prevent massive amounts of sweat getting on the belt. I wear headband, wrist bands, and towel off on recovery of interval workouts / towel off often while doing long run. Also, put a towel next to the treadmill and wring your headband and wristbands out often onto it.

The next best thing is to spill some sports drink on the belt. Coca-cola works well too. Makes your shoes and belt a bit sticky, but if the belt is completely soaked, not much you can do.

Although not as much or as fast as Lionel, I also do around 80% of my running on a treadmill (~35-40 mpw inside). The towel suggestions are definitely good - I put one on each of the rails on the side of the treadmill. I used sweatbands for a while, but I’ve actually found arm coolers and leg coolers to be even more effective than that. It sounds like you’re at home (?) so even a slight breeze from a fan with the addition of arm and leg coolers will make a ton of difference.

Yeah I look like a cool guy with my headband and multiple wrist bands. I’ll just try to be more cognizant of toweling off during more runs. I did find out that if I do a brick I need to take my bibs off and get in fresh shorts.

Yes I have a treadmill in my house. I typically have the treadmill fan on high.

Try putting spots (small button size) of ShoeGoo on the outsoles in the heel and forefoot areas.

Your Kinvara is 90% exposed injected EVA. It has a skin on it that will simply be be bit slippery. The two shoes that come to mind similar with more outsoles are the New Balance Vazee Pace and the New Balance Zante. I actually like the Zante better because the rubber on the outsold is fairly sticky. Both shoes are similar to your Kinvara.

I use the treadmill all the time. The treadmill fan is tiny, so I bring a 6 inch clip on fan and attach to the top of the treadmill. I still sweat bullets, but the fan reduces it and blows some of it away so it doesn’t wind up on the belt. So no slippage problem.
