I’ve used the CloudFlow shoes for the several years and have been pretty happy with them. The biggest annoyance I have is constantly picking rocks/twigs out of the bottom of the shoes because everything gets stuck in them (I run on a lot of mixed surfaces). What shoes are out there that are similar to these that don’t have this sort of annoyance?
I was actually in the same spot. Liked my Cloudflows, but the pick up a lot of debri, and I thought they were a touch stiff. I went to the Brooks tempos and they are very similar feeling to the cloudflows, with a better sole.
I got a pair of Clodflows back in 2017 and I seem to remember the running store guy telling me that ON knew about the stone collecting middle channel problem and were fixing it. Four years later…
To your question though, I went to Saucony Kinvaras. I also got some of the reissue Hoka Clifton 1’s which have totally different last shap and toe box size, but actually felt in the spirit of the Cloudflow to me.
I have gone with the Cloud (previously had Cloudflow). Cloud seems better. I may also get the Cloud-X next round. I run on mixed surfaces too. It is what it is. I like the firm contact of the On system after the initial compression. I don’t think you can replicate this concept. With it you get the downside of the debris collection from time to time, but the Cloud 2020/21 seems a lot better than Cloudflow used to.
