i am have hamstring Tendopathy of the hamstring insertion into glute for about 3.5 yrs, i have tried PT, Physio, Cortisone injections, rest, A.R.T and now Shock wave therapy has been suggested and i have an appt in 2 weeks and was wondering if anyone had tried this for this injury or had ideas i havent tried, i have stopped running marathons when this happened but now its affecting IM 70.3s in the running part and i want to do my first IM next year.
High (proximal) hamstring tendinosis is very tough to treat… as you have experienced. Low-energy SWT is probably your next best evidence-based treatment option. However, the combination of eccentric exercise loading and SWT may be more effective than either separately. Taking anti-inflammatory meds during the treatment period could reduce the benefits. Jogging barefooted on soft ground might also help. Good luck!
