What’s the difference? I’m guessing like 200 grams and some stiffness?
Edit: And a sweet sticker…

The sticker is worth the money!!!
stiffness is probably close enough mortal humans wouldn’t feel the difference. that bike is STIFF - look at those huge tubes. i seriously doubt anyone could tell the difference.
Yah, I couldn’t care less about stiffness. Maybe it makes a difference in handling…but I don’t plan on taking any tight corners :).
S-works module coem with cockpit and cranks and is “a bit lighter and more stiff”. NOT worth 3K IMO. The sticker is cool though. I just got my 2013 Pro in Stealth Back and it is pretty sweet! I built with Sram Red and Quarq for about the cost of the S-Works module.
What do you think the weight difference is in the frame?
I’m thinking about building a shiv in a few months and I really like the sworks sticker… But I am going to get different bars and extensions so I won’t be using the one that comes with the bike… might be a lot more cost effective to get the pro module.
Yah, I’m thinking of getting the pro frame with the carbon aero bars ($575).
So that’s $2,750 + 575 = $3,325 for the pro frame with aero bars.
For the s-works frame that’s $5,600 - 575 (aero bars) - ??? (cranks) = $ 5,025
So for the s-works frame you pay $1,700 more plus you get some cranks (which I don’t want).
yes, and if add a quarq power meter to the s-works cranks in is the same cost as a Red PM which really make the s-works cranks expensive.
BTW- Specialized bars are not available. I’ve been waiting but may just get some 3T or similar.
Ah, I see it says “Out of Stock” http://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftb/components/road-handlebars/triathlon-carbon-aerobar
Looks like they will sell them at one point. I like the fit system. I like to raise my elbows for longer stuff and slam them for shorter stuff. Now that I can adjust the reach at the same time with their fancy steam it makes it a lot easier to make these changes.
Buuuttt…there are some new Zipp bars being announced (this week?). Jordan has them on his bike. If they have a good fit system I wouldn’t mind getting those!
Ya, those will be $1,500—

PICTURES?!??
Yes. Soon.
Thinking about a similar build, what did you do for bars and stem? Are you happy with the breaking and climbing of the bike? You went with a BB30 crank for the quarq right? Thanks.
I went back and forth on this question forever, decided to go with the pro (not that I did not want that sticker) I took the money I saved and put it into higher price wheels (campy bora ultra two) and zipp carbon aero bars. I also went with campy super record. Whichever way you decide the bike is super fast, just don’t plan on using the water system. I have tried everything and it just don’t work good.
I am looking at the pro as well and would like to move my GXP quarq over to the new frame. I know the OSBB requires the BB30, but is there an adaptor that allows me to use the GXP?

I have the S-works module with Dura Ace and love the cranks and the adjustability of the aero bars. Then again I didn’t pay anything near $5600 for the module, so I’m not feeling particularly bad about my purchase…

I have tried everything and it just don’t work good… Yeah I think those are good choices. I had wheels already that we’re pretty decent and ended up selling my Quarq (hated power, hated the quarq) as I wanted the S-works cranks. Just personal preferences on my end, but truthfully the real benefit of the Shiv aside from the aerodynamics is the excellent adjustability. Really very very pleased with this bike even though I only have 4-5 rides on it so far.
The difference is the carbon layup. Pro is last years S-Works layup, current S-works layup will be a little lighter and you’ll never feel a difference in stiffness (although I’m sure there is one). Before getting the stock bars make sure you know your fit measurements as that bar has a pretty high stack. On my Shiv, I would have had to go to a smaller frame size and remove all of the spacers/headset cap to get the right pad stack. You can try my setup if you want to check it out.
Yes, search for the Wheels Mfg. adapters, this is what I used to move over GXP cranks before upgrading to BB30
