Shimano E Tube Project

Hi. Recently installed the Ultegra DI2 R8050 in my tt bike and started utilizing the synchro shift. During the initial set up, found out the bike setting for the CS doesn’t include the 11-32. Biggest cogs in the program for 11s was set at 11-30. Would this be an issue?

I’m having a similar issue. I have older Di2 (Ultegra 6870) but I upgraded the battery and added the bluetooth/wireless unit so I can utilize synchro shifting. I have the RD-6870-GS which makes the synchro shift settings only allow me to select either 11-28, 11-30, or 11-32 cassettes, when in fact I only ever use 11-23 and 11-25 on this bike. I’m wondering if I can fake it by configuring it it for 11-28, and then somehow make sure the synchro shifting still happens on the gears I’d expect it to with the 11-25 or 11-23. Did you get past your issue?

Hi. I had the same “issue”.

Posted on another forum but answered the question myself. Info here: https://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40004&t=13088004&sid=512b11f467de9101c9311fe34d63eb3b

Sync shift is a beautiful thing using the single buttons on the extensions.

Cheers

How’s this look, hopefully it makes sense?

My only problem is when shifting down the software wont let you move the FD down until the RD hits the 2nd rear cog. I guess it knows the chain can handle that angle and wants you to stay big for as long as possible. I’d just like the option for me to chose though.

Thanks. This is very helpful!

Great, let us know how you get on. I’m always keen to further knowledge.

I bought new 11-30 cogs and will set it up soon. Yeah, tried “fooling” the system but I encounter gear jumps when shifting to smaller gear.

To be sure, you don’t need the bluetooth unit to enable syncro shifting. All that you need is the new battery (with its added capacity for more processing power). As good as DI2 is, I have heard a fair number of issues surrounding the bluetooth aspect of it and I do everything the old fashioned way with the wired unit to change any e-tube setup options.

I realize the newer battery was the only requirement to get the advanced shifting modes. I can choose between manual, full, or semi-synchro as expected. I just wanted the additional wireless unit for convenience. So far, using bluetooth hasn’t been problematic and seems to be functioning just fine. Whether I use the mobile app via bluetooth, or the PC app via a wired connection, the options available when you choose your chain ring and cassette sizes are simply incomplete. I’m willing to bet this can be addressed in a future update of the app. But for now, I will try to adjust the settings available for an 11-28 setup and see if I can get it to work.

I think you have another issue?. I’m 11-30 rear and also non shimano numbers up front. It’s working perfectly. What happens if you swap over to manual shifting?
