Currently attempting to install ultegra 8050 Di2 components on my road bike. I laid everything out on the floor, wired it up, worked perfect. Installed everything on the bike, internally routed all wires, shifters did not work, but I could use the E-tube app to change and adjust gears on both the front and rear derailleurs. Undid all the internal wiring, re-wired again on the floor, shifters worked against. Re-wired everything internally, nothing from the shifters, but again could use the app.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a specific order I need connect the wires in? App says all components have the lasted software.
Have you tried doing the crash reset? Sometimes DI2 will get in a funny mode - only takes a few seconds to try.
“To reset crash mode on 10-speed (6770) and 11-speed Di2 (6870, 9070, R8050, R9150, GRX), you get on your bike and press and hold the button on your junction box for 5 seconds until a red light flashes. The rear derailleur will now go through all the gears, so make sure sure you spin the cranks until it’s done.”
Yes, I just disconnected everything and went step by step with this gnc video. All wires are long enough and are connected properly. Still nothing from the shifters.

Are you using all the wires, jboxes and components on the floor test as what you are using when assembled on the bike? Same e-tube ports on the grifters between test and build?
Yes, everything is the same. Battery is charged. I noticed when using the EW wireless unit and E-tube app, the front and rear shifters are not displaying, only the wireless unit. So I can’t assign the shifters to do something different.

The D-Fly units and app can be finicky at times. If you have a pc you can install the e-tube software and use the battery charger to connect and verify component connectivity and whether firmware is updated.
You might also try the system with the D-Fly removed. The BTLE connection status isn’t always clear and the app requires you to close the connection before exiting. But I’ve kind of given up on the app so I could be missing some nuances.
It’s the Bluetooth/d-fly Unit that messes it up for you. Try putting it somewhere else, i had problems when it was between the battery and junction b.
Install the battery, RD and FD on the bike and connect them up. Then without (yet) installing them on the bike or routing the cable, plug junction A in wherever you can and connect the shifters to that. If it doesn’t work, you know the problem is somewhere in the back half of the bike (1st guess would be the battery in this situation). If it does work, then you know the problem is somewhere on the front half of the bike, then you can focus your attention on the process of routing of the cable from junction B, and installing the shifters. With concealed cable routing and a bar-end junction A, it can be difficult to access and push the cables in securely, so that is definitely something to double check at each connection point.
On multiple occasions, no I just closed out the app rather than hitting disconnect.
So what does “brick†mean? Does this require connection to a computer to resolve? I’ve spent hours with it and I am ready to take it to a shop to an expert.
No you can fix it yourself, follow the steps below. The System thinks it’s still in connection mode that’s why you need to disconnect in the E-TUBE app.
Try this:
Disconnect the entire system for a couple minutes
Connect the WU111 to the battery only
Pair the two to your phone/tablet…my case was an iPad
After the phone/table pairs, ensure that you E-TUBE version is updated
Unpair device and reconnect everything with the WU111 and Battery last. I have mine connected with the Di2 wire from the Battery not the Junction in front
After everything is connected, activate the WU111 and pair to your device
Run a system test first through the E-TUBE so everything has been recognized by the software
Set up how you want shifting thru E-TUBE
Here is where I updated all the firmware it may take sometime to finish, about an hour for me
Disconnect WU111 from your device
Wait a 5-10 minutes then, cycle thru each light sequence on your Junction Box stopping where you want your shifting.
after you connect and hopefully update make sure you disconnect the connection in the eTube app… If you don’t the Di2 system will act like it’s bricked.
Let me know if it works

If you close the app without using the ‘disconnect’ button, the bike thinks it is still connected to the app, and will be in that state until it runs out of battery :).
When ‘connected’, the shifters will not respond to shift commands.
The easiest fix for that would be to reconnect the app/bike, and then hit the ‘disconnect’ button.
If that doesn’t work, you can also try Mike’s suggestion.
Now… whether or not this is actually your main problem… I’m not sure. The shift levers and front derailleur should show in the app. If they don’t, something is wrong (or you’re looking in the wrong place ;-)).
You haven’t connected the shifters using the bottom/third port (on a rim brake lever), right?
Success. Thank you. I also moved the bar end junction to the opposite side of the handlebar and shifter. Everything is internally routed and both shifters appear in the app.
