and this is why we do not go with any of these vids spec is putting out. look how much lower the dude is riding after shaving arms it isn’t even close this is an apples to jaguar comparison

Though they don’t show it in the video, they did 3 repeats with hair, 3 repeats without hair. Chris Yu and Mark Cote also tested themselves, all with similar results.
Wish they’d just get to what everyone really needs to know…
How much faster for shaved balls… accepting that an undimpled sphere is a high drag form…
So perhaps shaven and cold would be more aero than shaven and warm, with unshaven and warm the worst…
And lets not pretend it doesn’t matter cos we all race in budgie smugglers right?
He said he got goosebumps in the tunnel. I think this just validates Zipp’s dimpled wheels!!!
I’m somewhat new to triathlon and all of the rules, but for wetsuit legal races, can you just wear compression sleeves on your legs and arm covers on your arms (the thin ones for UV protection and cooling) if you want the time benefits on the bike, vs shaving?
on a road bike in drops, I am not trusting any of the results to replicate the position would be difficult at best with bias to wanting to be more aero with shaved arms they might subconsciously ride lower. even if that is not so, just looking at the video they did show, the two positions are in no way comparable. given that, 1 run or 3 runs, it wont matter, data is no good. garbage in = garbage out, and throwing more garbage in does not suddenly make it gold.
I’ll take the other side. Any of us spandex-clad weirdos convinced not to shave arms based on the video?
I can think of plenty of things dumber than shaving my arms I have done with “most likely not slower” as my best data source.
After seeing this I am investing Nair. Stock is going to skyrocket.

How can you reasonably compare the positions in the video? The side shots were taken from 2 different angles. (They don’t appear to be taken from the fixed camera position in the tunnel).
You also talk as if they have no way of comparing body angle from run to run. I can tell you from seeing it in person, that’s not the case.

I shaved my arms for the state TT and nationals in 1987. My wife was not all that thrilled about my prickly arms in the following weeks.

For anyone with reasonably hairy appendages, you’re talking a total of ~15-20W for shaving arms and legs. That’s not easy to ignore…
.
+1 here.
In addition to the time savings, shaving has also helped me dry off faster which keeps me warmer and is personally more comfortable. Shaving in certain areas has also helped reduce rashes, etc. Also no hair rub or less hair rub while taking tight fitting clothing on and off.
Overall the twenty minutes it takes to shave the entire body is worth it for me. Comfort and then speed benefit. When I was a cyclist the reasoning was that shaving helped healing from road rash, etc… There are several benefits to offset the time spent shaving.

I’ve raced both hairy and smooth enough times to be confident that shaving makes a real and worthwhile difference in my bike times.

I will second that! Now if that is just the feel or real watts I don’t care!
look at knee height relative to elbow. even with the different camera angle it looks evident
yes, you can compare in tunnel. still, difficult to hold that type position no matter how close you to getting it and knowing it takes very little change to make a difference in data makes me not trust it.
I did not at any time say the trend was wrong, but seeing as I wear long sleeve ss to tt, don’t really need to worry about it

The different camera angles were from different elevations. There’s no way you can judge what you think you are seeing.

genius Andy Potts managed to ignore it for quite a long time
You could, but that breaks rule #33 - shave your guns.
