Sharp pain in medial arch of right foot

Hi folk,
I was out for my long-slow-deliberate run yesterday morning and towards the end of the run I had a sudden sharp pain in the medial portion of the arch of my right foot. A sharp, stabbing pain. It abated enough for me to run the 1 mi home, but its persistent, and the area where the pain occurred is sore to the touch. Its in the 14% region of figure C… its not plantar fasciitis—I’ve had that before on the other foot and it feels very different.

Ideas? Stress fracture? ¯_(シ)_/¯

Ha, I was getting ready to type the exact same thing.

For the OP, it’s actually pretty easy to treat/rehab. When I had it, I placed a one inch thick book on the floor, put only my big toe up on it (with the other toes still on the floor, and leaned forward a little to create a mild stretch of that tendon. I would hold for 10-15 seconds and repeat several times. Within two weeks (probably less), it was a huge improvement

Do you regularly roll the bottom of your feet?

As others have said or posterior tibialis tendon. Cause maybe arch is collapsing putting more load on the mentioned areas.

Hi all,

Thanks for your feedback; your diagnosis was confirmed by my doctor. No need to amputate… yet.

wearing different work shoes seems to make my feet feel differently when I run - something to think about if it occurs again

Cancer? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Have you tried running in different shoes?
