SF Masters Program and Swim Coach?

Can anyone recommend a Masters program in SF and perhaps a swim coach. I have my first IM coming up in 11 months and want to up my game a bit. Thx!

Go to www.usms.org.

Thanks. I should be more specific. I want to improve my speed and efficiency in freestyle swimming specifically for triathlons. With all the training I have to do over the next year, I don’t want to waste time focusing on flipturns or the backstroke, for example. I’ve looked at the list of programs in SF, but I’m curious if there is a particularly good Masters program/coach that would suit my needs. I know there are lots of ST peeps from SF. Any recommendation from the list of programs (USF, Fog City, Tsunami, Bay, Koret, other??) that would be a good fit?

Also, I’m thinking it might be helpful to get some 1 on 1 instruction from a coach, if anyone can recommend one.

Thanks again!!

My Masters Swim Coach knows I’m a triathlete and I focus on freestyle. He also tailors my workouts for long distance. You don’t have to do flip turns to participate either.

Also, My swim coach, who runs a 17 min., 5k, runs with me before swim practice. Now, I’m usually chasing him down, but it’s a good workout before swimming.

Hope you find a good Coach!

Start with a couple of private lessons with Leslie Thomas swim_art@yahoo.com. Have a look at the USMS.org link for programs in your area before you go to meet with her and get her opinion on the programs where times and locations work for you.

USF had one at there new gym (now at least 5 years old). But its on the roof with great views of the Potrero and Pac Bell park. Not too high powered…aka perfect for free(style) loving triathletes.

I dont have much to add, except that when I travel to SF for work, I usually swim at the YMCA on Embarcadero and I see a few Masters Groups there. Someone there may have details (or check out their website). Great place to go for a run before/after as well.
