Setting up a tacx flux s (T2900)

hey all -

just got my hands on a (used) tacx flux s (model T2900).

i’m slowly getting things set up and had a frustrating day. in trying to mount my bike (an old cervelo soloist alu, ~2004), i found the rear dropouts weren’t fitting onto the trainer without a lot of stretching. once it was on, it seemed angry.

i realize now that I need to remove the casette and then find+install a 1mm spacer (where the hell do i find one of those?) in order to get the alignment right for my 9-speed drivetrain.

but what’s up with the rear spacing? there are two black nuts that screw on either side of the trainer at the quick release - are they optional spacers? or do i just need to muscle my bike on there and damn the torpedoes? i tried a second frame that i’m building at the moment (a brand x RD01) and it was similarly too small.

what am i doing wrong here?

(should add that i’m pretty sure the rear spacing is 130mm on the soloist.)
.

The trainer comes with multiple adapters (the black bolts) for all different sizes of bikes to fit the rear dropout length. It says the length of the adapter on the bolt opposite of the cassette. Do you have the additional adapters?

The trainer also comes with the 1mm spacer for the cassette.

It sounds like you did not receive all of the parts included with the trainer

i definitely didn’t get the 1mm spacer (but i did get a free 11-speed cassette! unfortunately i run 9- and 10-speed.)

i’ll have to check through the axles i got…

The adapters are just little black screw in things, I got a bunch of them with my neo though never looked at them. The 130mm fits my cervelo rs 2012 and 2016 trek 1.1

Heres your 1mm spacer: Amazon.com : Shimano CS4202 Cassette Freehub Spacer (1-mm) : Bike Components : Sports & Outdoors

hmm, so looking through the bag I seem to be missing a few things. no lockrings, and no 11-tooth EDCO ring. yikes! i also don’t see any alternate spacers…

What did you pay for it if you don’t mind me asking.

well i’m in switzerland so i suspect the exchange rates won’t quite work out, but i’m finding people asking ~500 to 600 here for them. the bigger thing that price is speed. i was shopping on facebook marketplace and smart trainers were getting snapped up in less than an hour.

ah! conversation with Tacx reveals the difference between a Type 1 and Type 2 axle. so now off to figure out which kind I have. . .
