i’m confused, and horrified. Can’t get the anti shoe + the supposedly faster concept. What do you think ?
(sorry for cross posting if my search hasn’t been thorough enough)

Can i get some subtitles for that video?
In the video, where the guy is shown parking his bike and putting on his shoes…I’d be willing to bet that most ST’ers that use elastic laces could put on a pair of shoes faster than that. Also, if I spent that much time bent over putting my shoes on, I’d faint when I stood back up.
“that Guy” is Norman Stadler
.
Not sure what you mean by the anti-shoe, maybe I did not get through all the videos.
I give both the T2pro and T2c two thumbs up. Best shoes I have used yet. The nice thing about the closure is that you don’t need to use elastic laces. To me, that means a better fit and I like the feel of regular laces better. I doubt it is faster than elastic laces. But, it does work well.

In that case, I don’t think the speed with which I put my shoes on in T2 is going to make up for the 2 - 3 hour lead that he’s going to have on me at that point in the race.
However, my original comment still stands - that demonstration looked slow, and I still think I would faint in T2 if I had to bend over for that long.

I agree, I can get into shoes with elastic laces or Yankz faster than that. Never mind my Zoots. I won’t write the Scotts off without trying them, but the mechanism for entry into the shoe does seem like a lot more work than getting into my Zoots. Although I will admit, getting into the Zoots sockless with wet feet is a little trickier, the Scott design looks like it could be easier in that case.
I think the shoe has some interesting points- the entry, the sole shape, sockliner, etc. I’m not a big fan of running sockless myself, but I could maybe see using it in shorter distances sockless maybe. I do like the fact that they seem to be trying to bring some new tri-specific ideas to the game (though they are not the first to make a tri shoe as you know.)
(Also- in the spirit of full disclosure- I have 2 Scott road bikes and have owned dozens of their goggles and ski poles!)
i did not get the shoes in hand, so my opinion is only based on what the internet shows (edit: yes, skewed)
i meant anti shoe because the outer sole looks pretty curvy, like
http://us.mbt.com
might only be me, but you see the fellow talking to Norman playing with the shoe in that respect in the vid
just a bad start for me… but i did not even get a chance to the shoe, so what do i know…
you’re right and i know it! i really mean it: brands that give credit to triathlon by developping stuff specifically for us are to be encouraged.
so, sorry Scott… but this is ST and today, i’m a hater of your shoes
on the relevance of the concepts used, i never had a problem entering my shoes nor running sockless and not even having my feet wet enough to need drainage, in a runner’s running shoe. Maybe i should call myself lucky.
I used to own Brooks Tri-Demon back in time. And the Zoots are ugly, but conceptually not as BS-ing as the Scotts… no ?
With the Scott’s I just see too much of the brainstorming session leading to that shoe… the big board with all the ideas with the center concept = TRI SPECIFIC SHOE because there is a MARKET and triathletes like to have CULTURALLY MARKED PRODUCTS.
Do you think it’s possible that i get the Chris Lieto hater effect and finally run them on someday ?
I will disagree - I think they are very cool and it is nice to see innovation. Also I like the sole as most people are not forefoot runners (myself included) so I think this is a nice feature. Although I would like to see a lower profile.
It may not be faster but it appears to be as fast and other benefits are the tongue of the shoe will be perfectly in place each time and you may get a better overall fit.
They should have called the shoe “The Hatchback”!

Are they for sale yet to the public?
That heal closure system scares me. Just one, actually with the elastic band and velcro closure and heel itself, seems more like 3, more things to worry about on race day. A little body glide/chamois butter on the inside of the rim of my Zoots and T2 is really smooth. Plus, I like the feel of the elastic laces better than regular, really helps to eliminate pressure points and hot spots.
But I obviously haven’t tried the shoe.
I also think elastic laces are faster than that demo with Norman.
I love how they’re asking him for his imput on what’s important after they’ve already produced the shoe!
The only other thing I can comment on that I find somewhat interesting about the Scott design is how they attempt to solve the ease of entry issue without increasing the height of the heel of the shoe as with the Zoots. On the current generation of Zoots (I wear Ultra TT 2.0’s) I find the heel incredibly high, this is done as to allow space for the ‘handle’ on the heel which you can use to pull the shoe apart when snapping your foot in. This would not normally bother me, but for some reason the heel chafes on my right foot to the extent that it will break the skin if I am sockless. I get around this by using Glide or other similiar products, or by wearing a high enough sock, but I still find it annoying. The heel of my shoe is stained with blood to remind me times I have forgot socks or glide. I don’t think I’d have that problem on the Scotts, but regardless of how well it may actually work, that whole trap door elastic strap mechanism thing on those shoes really just looks like a disaster waiting to happen.
