Secretary of State Clinton doing a great job

"She is educated, articulate, well versed on foreign policy experience, knows many of her foreign counterparts, has the skills to manage State, excellent ability to develop policy and execute on that policy, lots of common sense, has political positions which are not extreme, willing to work with other countries to further American interests, understands the issues, can effectively find Ambassadors from the foreign service, can futher develop the foreign service and tackle the issues of such a large beauracracy. "

Let’s take a closer look at these:

  1. Educated: Yes
  2. Articulate: Yes
  3. Well versed in foreign policy experience: What foreign policy experience does she have?
  4. Knows her foreign counterparts: Huh? From State dinners more than 8 years ago?
  5. Has the skills to manage State: Based on what? She has never run a large organization before.
  6. Excellent ability to develop policy and execute on that policy: Again, you base this on what, exactly?
  7. Lots of common sense: I’m not sure how you can determine how much common sense someone has by any of the political crap we’ve had in this country in recent years.
  8. Has political positions which are not extreme: Kind of depends on your viewpoints, right?
  9. Willing to work with other countries to further American interests: Seems like it so far, but it’s really more important that the President is or isn’t willing to work with other countries, since she simply executes his foreign policy.
  10. Understands the issues: How do you know this? And do you somehow think she understands the issues better than other candidates for the job?
  11. Can effectively find Ambassadors from the foreign service: What does this mean?
  12. Can futher develop the foreign service and tackle the issues of such a large beauracracy: Maybe. I don’t know why you are so sure about this given her complete lack of experience managing any kind of large organization.

Maybe Secretary Clinton will be a fantastic Secretary of State. It’s too early to tell, and most of what you have listed are feel good subjective assessments on your part tht don’t seem to really be based on anything concrete like experience or track record.
That is pretty much exactly what I was going to say. YaHey did you think this during the primary when Obama was attacking Hillary’s FP experience, or did you change your mind when Obama changed his mind when he realized that he needed her supporters to beat McCain

What Slowguy said is “pretty much exactl” what you were going to say? Give me a break, you didn’t have anything insightful or intelligent to say. You could have argued my points, but instead you follow up my reasoning with a BS statement about how politics works when Hillary and Obama compromised and beat each other up during the election.

Look, I can see that you don’t like her, and probably don’t know much about her background, capabilities, or what she’s been doing the past 8 years, but for christsakes at least figure out what the job of Secretary of State requires.

But but but Rice.

Like you have been insightful and intelligent in this thread. Your reasoning was so pitful that it didn’t deserve more followup than Slowguy gave it. No where in it did you talk about why you think what you think. Your post sounds like it was written by Obama’s speech writers. Why don’t you go back and give examples as to why you think she has excellent ability to develop policy and execute on that policy etc.

So what you are saying is we shouldn’t believe anything politician say during primaries and elections?

I don’t dislike Hillary I just think that she isn’t qualified to be SoS. He would have been a good fit as the Health Care czar. I know exactly what she has been doing the last 8 years. She was a a Senator from New York state. While in the Senate she served on the Committee on Budget, Committee on Armed Service, Committee on Environment and Public Works, Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, Special Committee on Aging, and Commission of Security and Cooperation in Europe. Only the last one has anything to do with Forgein affairs. To me that isn’t enough experience.

When did I say anything about Rice?

You are extremely biased in favor of Hillary Clinton and obviously not shy to blast it out. In real terms she’s just doing her job and good on her for that. But it’s way too early to see if she’s capable of achieving anything yet. Japan is now developed into a friendly country after WWII, what’s there for them not to like? I think the word love might be a bit strong don’t you?

And what exactly did she achieve in Muslim Indonesia pray tell? Of course within the diplomatic cocoon of the Government environment they would want to be all nice and diplomatic. It’s a win-win to continue to squeeze what they can from the Infedel Imperialists. At the same time they still appease the radical element in their country because that’s the huge very active sentiment among the masses.

The Indonesian Government leaders who are not radicals themselves but just greedy corrupt politicians are playing a delicate balancing act with pretending to appease the West whilst having to show the hugely influential radical element that they are really with them. Same with Musharaf in Paki and he leaned a little too much toward the West and look what happened to him.

Anyway it’s a little too early to be doing the hallelluja Hillary big song and dance don’t you think?

You would prefer that they didn’t buy? There is only one nation in the world capable of bankrolling the US at the moment and beggars don’t get to be choosers.

There is no doubt that the Obama administration has turned world opinion back in favor of the USA. Americans are good guys again, at least for now. Just getting rid of Dubya would do that by itself all by itself however.

I liked Rice in a lot of ways. Her biggest problem was her boss.

I disliked Hillary from the moment I first heard her talk when being interviewed by Diane Sawyers (I believe) about Jessica Flowers in the early 1990s. I didn’t even know who she was (or her husband for that matter) and I turned to my wife and said I did not like either of them. They both instantly struck me as phonies.

My opinion has not changed, especially towards Hillary. This is not a political thing. Just a visceral reaction to what I consider to be phoniness.
Therefore, I cannot imagine ever being able to give Hillary a compliment unless she invents the cure for cancer, and even then it would be hard to do. Just don’t like her.

Just pointing out what she is actually doing, and that it's sad to see her (America) groveling to China.

That’s the kind of straight opinion trimick should learn from - instead of that stuff about Hillary not being qualified (which she is), trimick can just say that while he knows nothing about Hillary, he just doesn’t like her and would never give her a break.

Why don’t you go back to your post where you tried to say why Hillary is qualified to be SoS and expand on the points?

Why do you think I hate Hillary? Like I said in an earlier post I would be fine with her in another post but don’t believe she has enough foreign policy experience to be SoS.

instead of that stuff about Hillary not being qualified (which she is),

which she is ???
