Seatpost more forward than Thompson

I have the Thompson Seatpost non setback (27.2). I am looking for one that wil allow me to get slightly more forward but not be the PRofile Forward seatpost. I already have a steep angle bike but am looking to accomodate a hip issue. Are they any curved ones that would work?

Thanks,

Barb

The Bontrager has 5 mm of offset and can turned around nicely.

Hello,

try a thompson setback seatpost, reversed, it’s a good compromise between a no setback and a profile fast forward seatpost …

Thompson with set back turned around. David K

The Thompson is a great post.It has 16 mm of setback.

I’ll second the Thomson Set back as well…but I’d double check to make sure it is less than the Profile Set Back post. Also if you end up turning it backwards make sure to swap the saddle clapm and bolts too. Otherwise you could end up with one bole too short and one too long.
I am not sure what the Profile offset is but for refrence here is the website

and the Thomson looks like this

Although the setback is a great post, thompson does not allow for much angle adustment of the saddle. You may not be able to level out the saddle if you use the setback backwards (I’ve tried this twice). It depnds on how steep your seat tube is, the steeper the better.

In the past with a 75degree bike I’ve used an Easton CT2 reversed, but if the bike is shallower it cannot be leveled…

Ale.

As you already now barb, be careful about bringing too much weight forward on the bike. It will adversly affect ahdnling. Check out this article I wrote for Xtri.com a few years ago on that very topic:

Profile= 40 mm of offset.A little less than the 16 on the Thomson is the 5 mm you get ot the Brontrager and you con have carbon if you like.

Thanks for all the helpful and informative replies. I have something to think about. The Bontrager reversed might do the trick to accomodate my hip issue. Iy may only be needed temporarily or I just might like it.Thanks Tom for the reminder on getting to much over the front. I am aware of it but its still worth thinking about.

I knew a girl that was more forward than a Profile Design Fast Forward post. Very popular girl, BTW. Hope this helps :sunglasses:

Hi,

I put as an experiment a ‘Selcof biposition’ on my normal race-bike. I raced with it on flat dutch courses. In fact I use it in ‘reverse’ but the abilities to adjust the seat angle are fine.

At the moment I skip the european winter and I’m cycling around in the hills around Silicon Valley (old La Honda and others…). It’s great here, however, at the descents this forward position is nasty. I’m not using any aerobars here, pretty useless expect for the Foothill Expy ?
