Scottie Scheffler detained entering Valhalla

Apparently he was detained by police this morning. Handcuffed into the back of the car.

You make me feel so out of touch.

So google says he’s a golfer, what’s he done to get arrested?

I thought entering Valhalla implied he’d died

I thought the same thing. This was about some guy who died and they just found out something heinous about him.

That’s a pretty unique headline I suppose ha

Based on this story it looks like potentially overly aggressive policing.

He tried to drive around the accident on the median. He then drove with a cop latched on to his car. That’s not on the cops. He should have just gotten out and walked

And stupidity. Why not just roll down your window and talk to the cops in the first place? Don’t try to drive around on your own and then ignore, however briefly, the cops when they try to get you to stop.

Or walk the 60 fucking feet

Don’t disagree. His wife did just have a baby so I’ll give him a little grace for that chaos. But yea, don’t be dumb.

Overly aggressive policing? Are you kidding?

I always thought Scottie was a Viking.

Not involved in the fatal pedestrian accident, but arrested for 2nd degree assault of an officer, 3rd degree criminal mischief, and failure to obey an officer directing traffic. Apparently released and heading to the golf course.

I’m kinda surprised that these guys drive themselves; I figured that there was someone who brought them from the hotel, or maybe a tour bus situation

Yes I was kidding
.

Sounds like confusion on Scheffler’s part about the traffic pattern. The players normally get to go on through the traffic pattern past the police officers managing car flow into the tournament venue, with their tournament credentials. Scheffler didn’t know there was additional delay and change of traffic patterns because of the wreck, so he thought he was doing what he had previously been instructed to do, by showing his credentials and continuing. The officer, who apparently was not part of the normal morning traffic detail for the entrance to the tournament, seems to have tried to grab onto his vehicle and Scheffler stopped about 10 yds later (about 2 car lengths).

This comes mostly from Schefler’s lawyer.

Yeah, that sounds like a defense lawyer’s version of events.

Man, the LR is in a hangin’ mood these past few days.

Though he’s a very rich white guy. I bet the charges are all dropped very quickly. Possibly he will even be apologized to.

Nah, a lot get brand new loaner cars from local dealerships. Not sure if everyone does all the time. But in Columbus for The Memorial I think they all do.

Sounds like Meredith Kessler except not.

Usually when people say that, the implication is that the statement is bullshit. Maybe I misunderstood what you meant.
