Scott Plasma 3 or BMC time machine? Opinions TT's

I have been riding a specialized Allez elite for about 3 or more years… I was in Kona the other day and rode a 45 miles on a kestrel torel and fell in love with a “REAL” tt bike… I test Rode a Scott plasma 3 and liked that as well… My decision lies between the Scott or BMC… Anybody???

I assume you mean a Talon, which isn’t really a “real” TT bike. The 4000 is closer to a real TT bike from Kestrel. That being said, between the Scott and the BMC, get which ever one fits better.

I just recently got a Plasma, and I’m loving every second of it. It’s as stiff as anything I’ve ridden, but somehow still quite comfortable.

If the reach of the Plasma works for you, I’d go for it. Throw an Omega on the front, and you’ve got a very clean setup.

As for BMC, I don’t believe they’ve done too well in the tunnel. The TM02 is just like every other non-integrated bike out there. The TM01 has one of the cleaner options as far as integrated front ends, but the brakes are a pain.

Really, get what fits you best & gives you the best position, but I love my Plasma.

Both are nice bikes. But if you’re talking about aero drag, folks that have spent considerable time in wind tunnels say that the plasma 3 is much superior to the BMC. Another thing that the plasma 3 offers, you can choose the brakes you prefer from many off-the-shelf options. Not too many superbikes give you that.

I was reading about that! Do u think buying it for 3K is reasonable or an insane rip off price?

3k for a frameset, or for a complete bike?

If a bike, what components/wheels?

Thanks… Sorry I meant my allez compared to these bikes I road this past week!! Huge difference in speed and comfort…

$3k built up is a great deal. I bought my plasma frame used for $2k.

I was on a specialized transition and by far, hands down the plasma is a superior ride. Much more comfortable over rough stuff, handles great (or maybe that’s just me), easy to work on.

The only thing I’d trade it in for is a P5-6.

Frame: SCOTT Plasma 2 IMP technology / HMF-NET
Fork: Scott Plasma 2 carbon

Group set: Shimano / FSA Gossamer MegaExo
Brakes: FSA Gossamer Pro
Parts: Profile Design T2
Wheels: Shimano WH-R501

This is what he said is on the bike…

Ya… That’s how I felt on it… Stiff but comfortable and handled well in the cross winds…

A plasma 2 ?

I thought you said plasma 3.

Big difference between the two …

What I see happening is he is advertising it as a “Scott Plasma 30 Bike”… But then it looks like it has a plasma 2 frame n fork

Big difference. Plasma 2 for 3k is a ripoff IMHO. Plasma 3 is a different design and is in the superbike range.

Price is high for the package. I would not say the three is superior. I have a two and the fit is much better than I could ever get on the three and if the 2 is set up correctly it too can be pretty slippery. I pass Plasma 3’s and P5’s all the time.

That’s a function of fit and the motor. The 3 is more aero than the 2 by a long shot, but if it doesn’t fit you… ::shrug::

Does this sound right?

Does this sound right?

It does. The Plasma 30 bike comes with the plasma2 frameset. But the plasma3 frameset is a far superior design. Can you get that frame from this shop?

A drugged up lance armstrong could prob beat me on a unicycle but that doesnt mean we should all ditch our second wheel

I don’t think he had the Plasma 3 frame in the shop, but I’m sure he could get it. He is a Scott dealer amount others like BMC and Kestrel…
