Scott Plasma 2 fastest bike at Kona this year?

I can’t say that I am surprised because the bike really looks fast! In regards to the times of the top 15 men riding the Plasma 2 it seems they were flying…

I dig the plasma 2 as well, but I think that it was more the rider than the bike. You could put those guys on a rusty old Huffy and they would still go under five hours.

if you own a plasma 2, your kona bike split, too, will drop down to the ~4:30 range.

“I can’t say that I am surprised because the bike really looks fast!”

There’s another thread going right now that this statement was tailor made for!!
.

Yes Ain Alar Juhanson was the fastest rider this year.

Great Split for a Clydesdale - he weighed 221 pounds on race day!!!

That’s really so true. All the same, as soon as I saw Crowie’s shoes & Potts’ swim goggles, I was thinking to myself how absolutely fast *they *looked and those guys would blaze the swim & run. It’s really no wonder Crowie had the fastest run w/ those fast shoes, just like the plasma 2, those shoes are FAST - I bet Llanos is kicking himself for not wearing them!!

lighten up Francis.

having a bad day??

Was it the Plasma Knight Rider 2, Ive been waiting for that to come out!

I hear you, it’s just so dam draining reading thread after thread about fast bikes, suits, etc & so few threads on analysis of training plans or strategies. If some of those on ST spent as much time analyzing why they’re fast (or many times slow) as whether or not reducing 20g of drag will save them .21785 seconds over 40K, you’d have many faster athletes.

I’m with MP here - all the bikes are pretty much the same. Look at the Tour de France - is it just one bike that time and time again thrashes everyone else ? No of course not. As Lance says ‘Its not about the bike’.

By all means - have a nice one, just dont waste time pondering over the ultimate fastest piece of kit.

Training plans and strategies…I think you are missing what ST is all about.
I have not been here for long, but its all about the best this or the most aero that…so I like your post.
Just look at the "should I buy a Range Rover or Porche Cayenne thread…WTF?

Ahhh, but what would there be to discuss besides lots of hard work? I’ve continually improved my volume on the bike over the past three years and what do you know? I’m a lot faster on the bike. That’s just not very exciting and if I posted a pic of myself running, there would be sniggering galore. I laugh most of all at people who talk about an “off-season”. How can you have an off-season as an endurance athlete. Sure maybe a few weeks of reduced volume, but then it’s time to start banking the miles for next season. Again, not very exciting. :frowning:

Now, pondering how I can possibly justify buying a bunch of used gear from the folks who have checked their boxes, quit tri, and are selling their stuff like the house is on fire right now–that is exciting. Well, it would be if I had any money.

Which bike holds the fastest bike split for Kona? Is it Normann’s 4:18:23 in 2006 on the Kuota Kalibur?

How much has product development impacted the bike split vs. mother nature vs. training/knowledge? Seems like there has been a few big steps over the past 5 years (i.e. decrease in time).

I agree with what your saying, However i read armstrong’s book and the reason for the title is so people know that
the book isn’t really about racing, its about his fight with cancer.
