Scott Plasma 10 or 20 owners

On the market for a new ride and I am considering the plasma 10 or 20 but can’t really find reviews online. If you own one let me know your thoughts, likes/ dislikes.

I am also considering the felt IA 14, Blue Triad, PR Six, or Trek SC. Based on fit measurements seems like all of them will work.

Thanks

you cant find reviews online?

Just by googling I’ve found 3 in ten seconds.

they’re all the same frame, just with different paint.

Unless, of course, you are talking about the newer 2015 scott plasma. It’s the same frame as the 4 or 5, just with a different fork.
The scott plasma is a great bike. It does everything well, if nothing spectacularly. Get it if it fits and the price is right.

Which size are you?

Saying that because I’m thinking about selling my Felt IA3 (2015) in 56.

I like it… I have the one withOUT the integrated front end, so the 10, but not the team edition or whatever it’s called. Those fancy front ends are too much to mess with for me.

Make me an offer and this one is yours!

I have an older one, 2009. Not sure how to compare it to other bikes. I like it. I would like it more if it was a 54 but it’s a 56. I make it work. Had trouble fitting wider tires and wheels. Moved rear wheel back (bike has rear wheel adjustment screws built in) and opened brakes all the way. Still rub on turn arounds like out and backs but just a quick touch. Nothing that bothers me.

I love mine (Plasma 2 10). Great frame with the added benefit of regular brakes instead of the integrated ones or those that are tucked underneath. It’s just better if you work on your bike and are a regular AG athlete without a lot of mechanic skills. A couple items to consider though in my opinion…

-Seat Mast: You cut the seat mast and the Ritchey saddle post goes on top. Cut it too short and you could have an issue for yourself and/or resale value because it then becomes a somewhat size limiting factor.

-Caution with wide wheelsets: If you want to use, let’s say Flo Wheels or go with the wider wheel trend, the Scott Plasma 2 will have some limitations. Running 25mm tires can cause a tire rub issue. Also, Wheelbuilder advises against using their disc cover on the Plasma because of the same width limitations. I use a SRAM 60/80 combo and have no problems. But that’s with 23mm tires. I tried 25mm tires once and immediately noticed some tire rub.

Those 2 items aren’t complaints; just things to consider. I couldn’t be happier with mine.

The integrated seat post is a good mention. If you cut it, keep the cut piece and cut that piece into smaller pieces to put on top of your new length post so your seat won’t slip down. The rear seat mount clip/bracket that locks the seat in place on ISP is very brittle. I machined a new one out of thick aluminum to eliminate the issue. New bikes don’t have the ISP.

Looking for feedback on the newer version of the Scott bikes. I assume they will fit the newer wider wheels?

Would you consider the 10 or 20 an upgrade over the older cervelo p2c?

Great bikes.

My team has about 15 or more Plasma Premium/Teamissue/10’s on the team. Most of them are the plasma4 frameset, a handful of plasma3 framesets and then a few of the newer plasma5 frameset.

As previously mentioned, the older framesets you did have to watch the wide tires. This isn’t a deal breaker but it does occasionally cause rub when running a wide wheel. newer plasma4 and plasma5 framesets this is not an issue. I would consider it an upgrade over the P2c.

I’ve also found a fair bit of reviews online on them. I don’t have personal experience (yet) but I haven’t heard any negative complaints about the plasma’s from my teammates. Out of the scope of this thread but I am really a fan of the new plasma 5 framset (team issue/premium bike). The integrated brakes are practically invisible unless you’re looking for them.

Full disclosure, my TT team is sponsored by a scott dealer (signature).
