Scott Plasma 10, 20, 30 Feedback

Looking for feedback from Scott Plasma owners. What they like, what they don’t.

Thanks

I’m looking for feedback as well
.

I have a Plasma 2 of 2009 vintage that was a team Highroad new leftover that was built just last year and raced last year and will be this year. This is when it still had the ISP seat post. Nothing to dislike and the best fitting and fastest bike I’ve owned to date. At age 55 last year I broke my 40K TT personal best twice on it.

It does have Omega’s on it now.

2010 Plasma 20 here. Put 3t ventus bars, Hed jet 6/9, and don’t believe I’m giving up much (if anything) to the “superbikes”.
Great bike, easy to work on. You won’t be disappointed.

2012 Plasma 20 with HED Jet 5 Express wheels. Love the bike. I’m 6’2, 160 with longer legs, shorter torso. Have a Size L bike.

I had one for a few years. Enjoyed it. The seat mast made it a pain to get in a bike box for travel.

All…How do you think the bike handles as a road bike? I am looking to put drop bars and clip ons and use it as an all around.

Thanks

I’m not sure I would use my Plasma as a road bike.

Have you looked at the Scott Foil? It’s their road bike with an aero carbon frame.

Aerodynamics it’s premium faster than 30, 30 faster than 20, 20 faster than 10.

I’ve got the premium it rides great more compliant and comfy then my previous transition, easy to work on, 2 water bottle cages rides great handles well.

There are a few threads on here about the premium and it’s attributes including Gerard of Cervelo complimenting it. Search and you will find.

Not sure what that means. I thought the pecking order was premium, 10, 20, then 30 last?

Also not sure that a plasma premium would be a good fit for crits and long road races (too low), though i don’t plan on competing any higher than cat 4.

My wife and I both ride Plasma’s. I have the one with an ISP and to travel, i simply remove the fork and it fits in th trico case no problem. It’s a 58. My wife is on a 52 and had the ISP and it would fit in the case without taking off the fork. Her frame broke and we recently got a 2013 Plasma 10 frame from Scott with the standard seatpost. I ride D/A and she has Red on her bike. For the price point that I got my bike for, I would say it was a good buy. Not a uber tri bike but works well for me.

the bikes feel fast, not too heavy for a tri bike, two bottle mounts are all a plus. No problem with the FC Zipps and spacing. I would say the bikes generally fit a longer leg short torso type body.

I like the traditional seatpost better than the ISP used for 2010-11. The plus side of the ISP is my seat never slips. The downside is resale but it is adjustable by 2-3 centimeters if you want to go higher and they offer a larger cap if needed.

I ride a Scott road bike as well and love the bike for climbing. it’s very light.

How do they compare to a P3?

Thanks

I think I will be going with the Plasma 10
.

did you do a crash replacement?

Yes. Broke the rear tab where the derailleur attached I think it got cracked in shipping to a race.

How much did it cost you and what was the process? I have a similar issue.

It’s a nice TT bike, but not in the same class (or price range) as the Plasma Premium, also called Plasma 3. The Plasma 10, 20 and 30 are really called Plasma 2.
I own a Plasma 2 and I like it. It’s the ISP version, and I really like that - no danger of the seat post ever slipping - tell that to a Cervelo P2 owner!!
However the forks and chain stays are narrow, and the bike doesn’t work well with Firecrest rims. The 808 tubular front wheel’s brake track actually rubs on the inside of the fork. The fastest wheelset that works for this bike is probably the Hed3 trispoke front and a Zipp 900 disc - both of which are narrow but fast wheels. I am using Sram S60 and S80 wheels, but I would rather have the Hed3 and disc.
I’m not sure why you would put drop handlebars on this bike, it would miss the point of it. An aero road bike might suit you better?

I have a plasma 2 and rode firecrest 808 tubulars until a month ago. I never had any issues with them rubbing.

as far as aero goes, the plasma 10, 20, and 30 all use the Plasma2 frame with different graphics. Only aero advantage is in the level of components added to the bike for each level.

I have a 2010 Plasma 20 and love it. Upgraded it to DA Di2, changed cockpit to HED corsair, and added a set of enve 45 clinchers and a rear disc for races. Bike is with Ruckus Composites at the moment, getting more tricked out for race season.
