I see no errors here at all. Nobody 2000 years ago thought that the earth was a sphere amiright? (Should I mention that Isaiah calls the earth a circle… which is flat… kind of like a disk…?)
The great thing about the internet is that you can post whatever bullshit you want and people will believe it.
I was almost ready to bow down and worship this bible until I came across the info-graphic below. I now pray to the great Bradbury. (BTW: for those who haven’t read it, The Illustrated Man is an incredible work of stories from the golden age of Sci-Fi).
Agreed. And truth be told, I don’t think it matters much that the Bible refers to a sphere.
I don’t think it would matter much either. But it doesn’t refer to the earth as a sphere. It refers to the earth as a circle. A circle is not a sphere. Just pointing out the bullshit in this meme that I stumbled across today.
I am not really meaning to bash all Christians here. Just the ones that post utter bullshit and call it fact.
Where in the world did they find their “Science Then” facts? (My best guess is from the church.)
I think that facts should also be in quotes here.
When did “Science” believe that the ocean floor was flat?
When did “Science” belive that therere were only 1100 stars? Holy shit, any idiot can look up in the sky (removed from city lights) and see that there are many more than just 1100 stars. I don’t think that the ancient astronomers were idiots.

Well someone pulled it out of their ass because science didn’t exist then. They may as well have said what the Internet said back then.
Where are the pillars that the earth rests on?
Not “completely” true. Science existed, it just wasn’t called that. The scientific method was in its infancy, and was a subset of philosophy alongside mathematics.

The scientific method wasn’t used until much later. You cant have science without the methodology.

“Science” clearly refers to the smart guys of the time.

Eratosthenes did science to calculate the circumference of the Earth. It was an early form of science, I don’t think he formulated a null hypothesis, but at it’s core, “science” is just the process by which we can obtain knowledge. He conducted experiment, made measurements, and published a conclusion. It has evolved to include a fairly standard process which minimizes the chances of fooling yourself into thinking that the experiment demonstrates things that it does not.
