Mounted up some new Pro One TT tires the other day setup tubeless on HED Jet6 black. I’ve read on the WW forums that people have had issues with leaky sidewalls and the tires won’t hold pressure for very long. I got them mounted up and noticed they were losing air after just a few hours and before even riding. I used a good mount of orange sealant (maybe 4 oz?). Decided to ride on them yesterday and I lost 40 psi on a 4.5 hour ride yesterday. Put the wheel/tire under water today and can see bubbles coming from the sidewall. Anyone else experience this and have a fix?
You can try airing them up then leaving the wheels flat on their side overnight. Then flip and repeat. I’ve done this on larger mtb and fat bike tires with leaky sidewalls. Also for road/gravel when the bead is leaky.
It appears that certain tire-rim combos dont work as well. Mine are leaking about 10psi / month on DT ARC with 60ml Schwalbe sealant. They were an absolute pain to fit and only set properly after triple wrapping the rim tape.
Seems to be a common issue. In my case after a few rides the sealant (Magic Milk High Fibre) had worked itself into the sidewalls and plugged the holes. Had let the wheels sit in various positions for a few days before and that did not help much. Maybe the deformation of the casing while riding helps the sealant find its path?
Had the same issue with the non TT version
I just layed the wheels on the floor and rotated every so often to coat the side walls
Front now hold pressure perfectly, rear still looses pressure but not as bad and not enough for me to take the wheel off the bike and repeat the procedure.
Using 30ml of Orange seal (regular not endurance) per wheel
All of Schwalbe thin walled tubeless tires do that. I had stans oozing out the side of a racing ralph. I would add another oz of sealant after a week or two, and spin the tires daily after being aired up.
All of my vitoria tires have been flawless… I am swearing off schwalbe tires, I never liked the pro ones I had and the mtb tires I have used are leaky as hell.

this is typical of gumwall/skinwall tires. the combo of gumwall + tubeless gives you leakdown. i’ve got some larger width gumwall tires from schwalbe for gravel, 50mm on 650b wheels, and they ride really nice. but leakdown is the tradeoff.
schwalbe pro ones for tubeless don’t leak down if they have a black sidewall. but then you don’t have that ultra low rolling resistance of the pro one TT. i haven’t found that the leakdown in these schwalbe gumwall tires affect tire performance during the ride. but you have to pump them up to pressure every day.

Thanks for the insight. I’m going to try a few tricks others mentioned to see if I can limit the leakdown. I don’t mind losing a few psi a day but anything more than 10psi/day seems excessive. Ideally, I should be able to start and end a ride at the same pressure.
Otherwise, I’ll be throwing in some latex tubes in these tires.
