I’m thinking of upgrading a Scott Plasma Triathlon bike to Ultegra Di2.
Do I need to change from a Sram red crank to the Ultegra? I currently running 10 speed but my Zipp wheels are 11sp compatible.
I can’t find any place that sells a TT group? Seems like I have to buy everything individually.
Battery external - mounting options?
I want basebar shifters and bar end shifters - two buttons I assume.
Junction boxes?
So if I understand this I need a junction A near the stem a junction B down near the bottom bracket plus a battery mount. Any good resources on setting this up with pictures? Sounds like I’m going to have crap and wires hanging everywhere.
Di2 is far more flexible with mounting than you think.
You can keep your chainset.
What you need are the front and rear mechs, aero bar shifters, basebar brakes/shifters, A junction (3 or 5 port), at least one B junction, and cables (how many and what length depend on your install).
You can place the A junction anywhere (mine is under the saddle as it’s more aero), but if aero isn’t the top priority then under the stem is easiest (may want to look at behind the stem or behind stackers depending on your aero bar setup). If you use an external battery then behind the saddle is cleanest, although if you run bottles there then under one of the chain stays (you’ll need to drill) or you can use the long or short mount to place it by one of your bottle cages.
You can probably run everything internally using your standard internal routing points.
