I dumped my bike on the 20th and my fiancé’s dog bit me in the face on the 25th. I now have some scar issues. Is there anything anyone can recommend for reducing the appearance of them? The road rash was clean without gravel. The dog bite left two deep cuts on my face one passing through to my gums/teeth. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Road rash is a badge of honor but I think you should bite the dog back (Rothweilers and Pit Bulls are exceptions) and then head over to your the first aid sections at your local Wlagreens or CVS Pharmacy and look for things such as Curad’s Scar Therapy or similar medications.
Road rash – Use Tegaderm to cover. It will breathe and heal quickly.
Scars – straight from my plastic surgeon – NO SUN for about two years; if you do expose to sun use very STRONG SUNSCREEN. To minimize appearance use vitamin E oil ( I get mine as a mix from Whole Foods or Wild oats – Tea tree oil and vitamin E oil) EVERYDAY!!.
Good luck

Thank you…very helpful. I wasn’t even thinking about a stronger sunscreen for my face until now.
Bacitracin on the road rash.
I agree with Michael on both counts. I’m proud of my road rash scars. But then I’m not too eager for any new ones.
And yes, avoid the sun.

I got three large nasty road rash on my both legs. Don’t buy one of these “Scar gels” they do not work!

Using that criterium, I should have women waiting in line!

Now, not that anything is wrong with that!
If you have red, raised scars a dermatologist can inject them. It hurts like hell, but they flatten out and fade afterwards.
