“The benefits of aero helmets at 18 to 30 mph are already well-known by most top triathletes. What’s counterintuitive is that the amount of time saved goes UP as overall speed decreases (those moving more slowly on the course save more total time). In fact, when moving at speeds in the 7 to 10 mph range (ie - on the run leg of a triathlon), the time savings go up dramatically - as much as 9 to 12 minutes for an Ironman run.”
I don’t know about y’all, but I’m planning on saving 12 minutes on my next run by keeping my helmet on.
Just think about the amount testing that will required on an indoor track to determine, which aero helmet saves you the most time based on style of running. Once this trend catches on, there will always be that beginner biking and running with their helmet backwards…
