Saucony Website

What is up with Saucony? They have been working on their so-called new website for 6 months. That is crazy!

I have been a long time customer of Saucony and have never even tried another brand shoe in 5 years, but I must confess I question any company that can’t put up a website within 6 months. My concern is that if it takes them this long to put up a site, that could be indicative of fundamental operational issues within the organization. And if they can’t even get a simple website right, then what does it imply about their ability to get their core offerings right. I feel that excellent companies are generally excellent and poor companies are generally poor. Although I’m a Saucony loyalist, their lack of execution on their website has really made me think about switching to another brand that actually seems to get things right.

Perhaps they are busy designing shoes (as they are changing rapidly)? Sounds like they picked the wrong web designer more likely. I’m SURE Nike has a killer website though …

I agree you shold not judge a company’s shoes by its marketing efforts, but you can judge a company, in part by its marketing efforts. Having worked with enough companies, my experience is sch that usually gross failures in one part of an organization implies problems throughout. Never in a million years would Nike or Adidas or any other brand foucsed company allow their main website to be done for a day or even hours, let alone many many months. Saucony seems to be shooting themselves in the foot because they are depriving their consumers of valuable information about their product line, new offerings etc.

What is more annoying is I emailed them and got a response saying I should look at roadrunner sports, zappos.com etc to see their new models.

I got the same email. I don’t know how their CEO would tolerate this from their CMO. My guess is that revenues have been impacted by this. But it will be convenient to blame micro-economic factors on the reduction in revenue rather than also realize their is a huge marketing failure.

Wow - that is pretty bad! Also, gigs, I definitely agree and see your point. Although, I don’t think with a business mind as much as others, especially when critically looking at shoes, and I currently like where Saucony is going. The CEO of their parent company needs to move some marketing people over though for sure!

i just typed a quasi-lengthy response agreeing, adding i have had the same experience with their site for as long, and also wondering wtf is up…all to have my net connection timeout and it get lost in space. my main point was you dont see other sites down for as long and how you couldnt expect this to heavily affect your business is beyond me. it would take a good webdesigner minutes to put up something functional with simple photos and descriptions. saucony what is yo dealy???
