Saucony Compression Tights v Zoot/2XU

I have a couple running buddies who swear by these tights, and they seem to be less expensive than the Zoot tights. However, I wonder how much a running company invests in their compression v tri companies, who may/may not be more advanced or progressive in this technology.

If anyone has any insight into either product, it would be greatly appreciated!

Saucony’s technology is made by Hologenics. It is a proprietary fabric called “Celliant” that is woven into the garments. This is the same material that the Ironman Beds are made out of. It allows for deeper red blood cell penetration into your capillaries. The reason you aren’t seeing more of it in more brands is because Saucony has an exclusive partnership with them for the next few years. The recovery tights are amazing. Besides Saucony’s athletes (Jarrod & Alicia Shoemaker, Sarah Groff, Trevor Wuertle, Luke Bell, etc), the entire New England Patriots’, Boston Bruins, and WR’s for the NY Giants use this stuff for their recovery. Now, I’m not 100% just how beaten up and abused you feel after training and a race, but I am pretty damn sure that you aren’t more beaten up than an NFL player. The training staffs contact Saucony directly for it and the players swear by it. Also, Saucony’s compression is not meant to be too tight. The whole point is to sheath the muscles to prevent muscular shaking and energy loss, while enhancing blood flow out of your extremities. Not bind you and prevent blood from flowing past the edges of the garment.
2XU? You like the “tubed-meat” feeling? Let’s put it this way: there is such a thing as “too much compression”. If you take a compression garment off after prolonged use and you have red lines all over your body from the seams and edges, those are literally blood blockages. Within the industry, 2XU’s compression gear is a joke. I can’t speak to their tri gear, but I know what their compression fits and performs like, and it is the antithesis of what compression is for.
Zoot has had good product in the past, but now that CEP isn’t making their apparel for them anymore, they are really floundering. Their first run of socks after the change were nearly all taken back due to gross quality control issues. The socks were all 5-6" too short. The tights and tops were ripping and not making it through a couple washes.

This thread should have been about Saucony vs CEP vs Skins vs 110%. I will save you quite a bit of money and tell you that 2XU is the worst compression out there. But they do a good job marketing and printing a big X on the back. Tri companies are better at marketing than some running companies, but the running brands have deeper pockets, and better strategic partnerships.

Within the industry, compression gear is a joke.

fixed.

Saucony fan all the way, but prevent muscle tremors and energy loss?? Come on, people fall for this?

Thanks for the insight. That’s a ton of information, thanks so much for taking the time to write it all out.

I think I’ll give them a try then…it’s not like they will hurt. Although I really don’t like the Boston Bruins, but that is another story for another day.

Thanks again!

Come on then, give us the low down on the other brands!

That is a good point. Would love to hear more…
