I just like AC/DC.
Indeed
whenever i was in combat I was blasting “Dirty Deeds” over the communal PA system

.
First US combat parachute assault was the 509th. Who flew from Lands End England all the way to N Africa and then jumped into the night sky!. The planes–and their crews–just went off out into the desert to land (out of gas). It was win or lose–no going home. Operation TORCH.
decades later i led a 509th Honor Guard to their annual reunion. That year it was in Minn/SP. Beautiful location. I’d gone out for a run the morning before, and came into the Hospitality Suite just to check things out and make sure they were all right for the “old timers.”
it’s about 0900 and they’re all there!? Smoking cigars and drinking bourbon. COL Raff yells as me “Major Hawley—get you some Jack Daniells and come join us!” I told him “Sir, it’s a little morning to be drinking” to which one of the other 509th alumni yells out “Fucking Germans couldn’t kill us—get you a drink and get over here”
To which i replied
Yes sir

During ODS I had a team in Iraq, using Land Cruisers. One of my best memories was crossing the border, going west with Thunderstruck blaring out the stereo system.

Brother!
than you can measure the value of a Soldier that can wire the combat comm’s system to allow you to use music until mil traffic is keyed through!
it’s glorious

So the Season 1 season finale aired on EPIX last night…
Good episode (as expected). No spoilers, but it closed with a “To Be Continued. . .”
Disappointing that there’s stuff hanging, but good that there must be another season. In maybe two years from now ![]()
It is certainly well filmed and pretty good history too. and has been said. Good music!
i too hope they continue to make more seasons
