San Diego locals, do you swim at crown point in mission bay?

I usually swim in a pool or at La Jolla cove but recently on my runs have noticed that Crown point in mission bay, right in the heart of mission beach, has marked off beach area with buoys. Does anyone swim there? Seems like you can get a solid 2 mile loop without worrying about boats, maybe the occasional paddle boarder, but why do I not see more people swimming there? Is the water super dirty?

SD locals don’t go in mission bay unless absolutely necessary. Not sure exactly you are talking about, but the beach next to the Bahia hotel is used.

It depends on the time or year. Water quality is better than in the rain season but it is not cleaner than the ocean even though there is tidal movement. But it can only flush so much. I Run and Bike at Fiesta Island and the storm drain is right at the entry to the island and it stinks year round.

Swim at the cove.

Yeah I’ve been sticking to lajolla cove, just wanted to know if the waters super dirty, seems nice when I run there, but I’ve heard mixed things. thanks

Yeah, that water can be pretty nasty. La Jolla Cove or some of the beaches to the north are much nicer.
