Where in SLC to get some reliable aero time? Loops or out-and-backs ok. I’m familiar with the antelope island option and frontage road to Saltaire TT sector…what else?
Legacy Parkway Trail from Center Street in Bountiful going North, there’s a few gates where you’ll need to sit up as you get onto the Centerville and Farmington area but not too many. You can link up with the new West Davis Corridor Trail in Farmington which will take you up to Gentile Street; follow that into Syracuse and you’re on the Brineman course, and pretty soon after that you’re on the Antelope Causeway. Coming back you can follow Gentile to the Great Western Rail trail. Turn south on that and it’s arrow-straight for miles, just have to sit up to navigate the road crossing gates.
Thank you! I hadn’t even considered the Legacy Parkway trail - assuming it was too trafficked with pedestrian cyclists, etc. Also, glad you referenced the West Davis Corridor - was not aware that this existed until I looked it up on the Davis County website - up to what speed would you feel comfortable riding these at?
If you go early in the morning it isn’t too trafficked, especially West Davis. Weekends get busier, especially in the late morning. I feel comfortable at 20-25 mph or more if nobody else is around, which is surprisingly often. It’s also very open and fairly straight in most sections so you can see a fair ways ahead
I wouldn’t do any of the trails. Bike paths just aren’t the place for time trial bikes.
If you turn right at the last turn before the antelope island causeway, you can ride relatively flat roads until you hit idaho though
Im not on a TT bike these days. But If you ever do a road or gravel ride hit me up. Im just in the sugarhouse area.
Eric, that would be great, certainly will - I do all things bike! I’m not far from you, we are in the Draper area. I’d be glad to DM to exchange contact info to meet for a ride sometime.
