Like many, I am still on my quest for the right Tri saddle and was hoping I could get some advice on what to try next!
I’ve tried quite a range from ism split nose style to the newer style of the geobiomized stride, pro aerofuel, fizik aeria… what I’ve found with these is that the nose is just to wide for me, how ever I much preferred the split nose style.
I get by with a prologo dimension tri but I find it lacks support for longer rides when in position, sitting up it’s great and is the best I found for road riding.
Recently I’ve been running a Fabric pro tri, which is better for riding in position but is still something I find myself fidgeting around on and still get sore bones after longer efforts. I think I find this better for the huge full length cut out, which is why I think I liked the split nose type and the rear is slightly smaller in width than the prologo so supports my sit bones better.
Fit isn’t an issue having had a bike fit which I get on with well. I just can’t seem to get efficient in position because I’m too uncomfortable on the saddle.
So has anyone got any suggestions on what to try next? For what it’s worth my sit bones are around 120mm
I liked the Specialized power pro - I never struggled with general comfort, but with rough roads then in last half hour of full distance races/training rides it sorted some tingling I was getting with the old saddle that I didn’t think wise to continue with.
Looks like a 143mm would be the one for you at 120mm sit bone spacing.
I loved it and had no issues with thigh rubbing. When I got my new bike I accidentally bought a sitero instead of the power (was trying to get same for both retired frame on trainer and race bike). Was ok, but that extra width annoys me. So I’ve a wove on the way to try, otherwise it will be another Spec power.
For road riding I’m also on specialized saddles (not bikes). In that use case the Romins.
It was recommended by a full bike fit I was getting done. Experienced fitter (that is also a physio). As you say, it is shown on the Spec size as being suitable for tri but not fully tri only. Was why I mistakenly got the sitero as it worked so well it never occurred that it wasn’t the tri one.
Yeah I have tried a Sitero, similar situation it was ok riding upright but in aero it felt like too much pressure in wrong areas. I will give the power pro a whirl
I was intrigued but the wove v8 good reviews but I just can’t see how it would work for me when the similar saddles with that nose width haven’t.
I use the Stage G2 saddle on a Cervelo P5. It looks like it’s been updated recently to the G3. Their customer service is great though, they’ll help you find the right width.
I have a brand NEW DASH G3 in the box if you’re interested. I haven’t been on ST lately much due to log in issues with this new format. But you can P.M. me & we can talk on that STRIKE G3…the reason I never used it was after I bought it…I stumbled upon this saddle called WOVE. After trying that…I didn’t need to put the Dash on…it was like my bottom said, “I’m home!”
I actually have one of these saddles that I don’t use any more. It solved all of my problems related to pressure points and rubbing, but unfortunately the lack of a wide center cutout meant that I had numbness issues. I’d be happy to sell it, it’s a great saddle just not quite right for me.
I have had very good luck with the bisaddle products when fitting people with similar issues. The Stealth and Saint models in particular can be adjusted to have a very narrow nose, while still maintaining some split nose function.
