Saddle spacers for TT bike

Hey guys -

Problemo here. I have a 2007 Orbea Ora. To make a long story short, bike shop #1 fucked up the seatpost and cut it to short when they did the original fit. I took bike to bike shop #2 to get it refit, and they said my saddle was way too low and raised it significantly, but because my seat post was cut too short I need to go about 1cm beyond the minimum insertion point for the post.

I would really, really like to avoid spending money on ordering a new seat post. Do they make any sort of saddle spacers for TT bikes that would get me 1cm? I have seen some articles saying you can use headset spacers on a roadbike seat to get the saddle higher, but obviously those won’t fit a TT seatpost.

Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

Ask shop #1 for a new seatpost…problem solved…if they they messed up they should buy you a new one.

Not happening for several reasons. That’s why I said “to make a long story short.”

What I need is an answer to my question about saddle spacers.

The only way I can think of would be something like the old school seat shifter that mounted on top of the original post and then had a second set of rails above that for your saddle to move the seat forwards on road bikes. I havent seen one in a long time so it might be tough to track one down unless someone on ST has one kicking around their garage.

Buy a new seatpost.

really bad idea. seatpost strength = crucial.

buy a new seatpost. sell shorter one on ebay.

I wanna hear the story about store #1…indulge us all!

I remember those. Was it QR that made them? they came stock with/on a certain bike but I don’t remember which. It was an ugly burnt orange color i believe. Designed so you could move the saddle fore/aft for flats and hills. I always thougt it would make a good ‘tool’ for experimenting with seat angles while on a ride or on the trainer.
did Monty do an article on them some years back?

Anybody know if they are still around?
