Hopped on my bike last night for a spin and immediately noticed my taint area was very bruised feeling on one side. Rode for a couple hours but had to sit a little to the side on the saddle the whole time. Never had a saddle sore, is that what this is? If not any ideas? Never had anything like this before and not sure its its something serious or not. Rode 70 miles on Sunday and ran 14 yesterday, don’t know if those workouts could have caused or contributed to this. Trying to figure if this is something I can ride/run through (doesn’t hurt walking/running).
If it is just a bruised feeling then you just sat funny on your saddle for a ride or do not have enough time in the saddle (perhaps some recent time off). A saddle sore is going to have a boil or an area that looks like a blister or burn or even a small hole.
Thanks for the advice. I have actually been riding alot these days, though I was a bit sore after Eagleman from sitting in the same position for 2+ hrs. Still, nothing like this. I was worried maybe it was some sort of hernia, but not sure if you could get one way down there.
Sounds like it’s just tenderness from the pressure of sitting on the saddle, especially if you’ve just increased the amount of time in the saddle. I often have pressure tenderness on multi-day tours. In fact, I just got back from a trip where I rode ~100 miles/day for 8 days in a row. I had some trouble sitting on the saddle on day 4 but was fine for the rest of the trip.

do you have any sort of bump, etc? have you literally looked at the area that hurts?
I would like to look at it but given its location I frankly don’t know if its physically possible. Any particular diagnosis you were thinking about??
I’ve got a pretty good one going right now. I could post a pic up, but I’m afraid that wouldn’t be appreciated by most.
They will start as painful little pimples, rapidly progressing to little boils. they may rupture. no matter what, it is painful. It isn’t going to be a deep muscle pain though, more of a skin pain. Be careful though, you can spread staph (if it ends up being staph) around on your skin.
Use a good soap (Lever 2000) and use a good diaper rash cream if you are going to ride. I like Boudreaux’s Butt Paste personally. It smells the best.
Yeah, what I got feels much more like a deep, deep bruise than skin pain. I ride alot and have never noticed that area this sore before. Its weird. If it is just a bruise, I can ride through it for a few days while it heals (just can’t figure when I did it), i just don’t want to do further damage if its something serious
