S5 fork paint damage-like the Transition

I took my bike out for a ride the the otehr day and realized a little paint had chipped of the fork behind the brake, about 1.5cm x 1.5cm. I realized it was from the fork contacting the frame when the fork was turned all the way to one side.(full lock)

Anyone else had this issue? My LBS said the Specialized Transition has a very similar problem and even showed me a few on the showroom floor that had paint missing from the frame and these were brand new out of the box.

The shop told me they’ll touch it up and then put some clear vinyl stickers over it. Anyone know of a remedy so it doesn’t happen again? I was thinking of putting some felt of the same color on the fork and the frame to help mitigate the problem.

set your cable housing up tighter so that it won’t tend to turn that much unless you force it?

ride some belgian cobbles in the rain so you don’t mind a few chips?

I have experienced some paint chipping on my S5 fork which has me a bit disappointed. Right above dropouts but above where the skewer creates the normal wear. Almost seems like paint / manufacturing issue. Particular annoying because I have white frame. I am very careful that I do not over tighten skewers and is not cause of car rack.

Touch-up paint covered by helicopter tape ( http://www.amazon.com/ISC-Helicopter-OG-Surface-Tape-Outdoor/dp/B000TPC7HU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330980260&sr=8-1 )
.

thats some expensive tape considering i need about 2 square inches of it
.

It is a big roll. It’s great stuff to have around, lots of uses for it. There are many anal MTB’rs who will cover their whole frame with the stuff.

my 09 felt B2r, did the same thing with the bayonet fork. sold it.
