I only have these two choices for a front zipp 404 fc. Which one do you think I should go with?
I’ve never ridden the turbo cotton, but have seen the same recommendation in a few places of:
GP4000s on the front to take advantage of the better aero.
Cotton on the back due to reduced rolling resistance.
If you’re a relatively slow rider then you might benefit more from reduced rolling resistance on the front too, rather than increased aero
Nothing I have read on the Internet, seen first-hand or heard has convinced me to use the S-Works Turbo (or cotton) over the top Conti tyres. The black S-works Turbo looks badass though, if that helps
Conti… hands down.
S works turbo is not the same tire as the specialized turbo cotton. The s works turbo has a higher crr than the turbo cottons. There’s a reason why the specialized sponsored pro’s run the turbo cottons and not the s works turbo.
if only there were a place to go on the internet where the Crr and aero of all these tires were listed in one place.

GP4000s without doubt. SWorks Turbo 24c are slow, IME:

and with more confidence yet, Tom A. tests:

I bought the SWorks Turbo 24c tire in 2013 (I read at the time very good results from an independent test of the Finnish company Wheel Energy):
To be fair, Specialized produced a new version of the tire after (2014?):
But Rolling Resistance test proves again that the Crr is higher than a GP4000S2 (same Crr than GP4000S, I believe):

Definitively, this tire is a mystery (or Specialized test protocol advantages their tire).

If only!

if you put the 25GP on a 404FC you will see it balloons out a lot, so I would look at a 23TT or 23 4000GP if it were my bike/wheel. If it were not windy and yaw is going to be low and you don’t mind having mismatched tires with rear then a 24TC could be the call. I have not put a 24mm TC on a 404FC so don’t know how bad the balloon effect is.

Our road racing team got a deal on the cotton turbos this year and i bought a couple pairs and did regular training on them since they were insanely cheap. I don’t care about any data i will never use that tire for racing. I have never once gotten that many flats in my life over three separate pairs. I estimated i was flatting every 65 miles on nice roads. Not just glass but regular little asphalt chips were penetrating the tire, stuff that i have never seen cause flats on any other tires.
